Hello there, Beas

Long time no see. Just finding my feet again on the Fanstory front, having suffered a serious bout of writer's blockage.

What a wonderful tribute to one of the world most talented poets.

I loved him dearly and was fortunate enough to see him live here in London, a couple of years or so ago.

Pure genius.

You sum him up well here and lend such admiration.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, my friend.

Kindest regards

trimple :)

Oh my! What a wonderful tribute Marilyn!

There are so many songs of his that have touched me deeply -
"Dance Me To the End of Love" was definitely on my top tier :-)

Thank you so much RS :-)

I will miss him deeply. . .his voice and his words. . .his wisdom and his ability to express the ironies and dichotomies of life. . .but I am, at least, immensely gladdened that he was able to leave us his vast body of works :-)

Nicely done :-)

What a wonderful fitting tribute, Marilyn, and inspiration to explore his work more fully. I particularly applaud your reinforcement of the power, whole life and humanity reinforcing gifts of such lives, that are crystallised through such tribute and mourning, to further blossom into the everlasting consciousness, love and joy, through media such as YouTube. Thank you, so much for sharing, Maureen*&*

Yes! He will be missed; yet miraculously that missing expands his whole gift of life and humanity into the everlasting, as you poem noted. A precious gift which will flower and inspire in those most precious treasures of music, words, song and love. Maureen*&*

You've captured him well in just a few words here. I love his sound and his song "Hallelujah"... will be posting something myself soon. He left us a wonderful reportoire that will live on for decades, if not longer. :)

This is a nice tribute to this artist, my friend. I will check out these songs on U-tube. That is where I listen to most of my music these days

Hi Douglas. If you listen to 'Dance Me To The End of Love' look for the one where he's in concert that shows old couples with their wedding photos. Touching and beautiful. Thank you for your review. Marilyn

I enjoyed Leonard Cohen for his quirkiness. My favorite of his songs is Closing Time. It has a catchy tune, love the back-up singers, and the part where the women throw off their blouses lol! I don't listen to his music often, but some of his lyrics and moments stay wih a person. That is a powerful writer who can do that.

This is the third Leonard Cohen I have read on here so far. Many versions of his Hallelujah song are going around Facebook lately. I'm still trying to figure out how her tying him to a chair is spiritual. I think she cuts his hair too.

I have his book on my nightstand. it's a huge book and I have been procrastinating the reading of it. I will make it a priority now, I think. Wish me luck.

Hi Joy. Thank you for your supportive review. The reference to the tying to the chair is when Delilah cut off Sampson's hair. It is said that he combines three things in this song successfully and he hallelujah's each one as the song progresses. Biblical reference is the first one, which we're talking about--frankly the other two I forget. I caught on immediately to the Sampson and Delilah thing when I first heard the song. Marilyn

Marilyn,

I wonder how many songs, poems and pieces of art are being created in this man's honor about now? *smile* What a gift he was in the artistic world. I love these songs, too, and think you have paid them great respect here! Thanks!

He will be missed. He was a great artist is many ways. There will never be another like him. I am glad that we have his work available on YouTube & other media. His influence is seen in many other musicians of today.

I like your picture & color scheme. I can tell that he meant a lot to you.
