Ok, to be honest, when I started reading this, I thought "seriously?" But your story achieved its purpose - I was hooked and had to keep reading. The pun at the end was just the kind of slapstick humor the world needs more of. Thanks giving me a laugh today. Good luck with the contest.

A crime story in the garden. How creative. Federal Bureau of Insectation - great name.
Each insect has its own special place in the world as you've shown in your story. This was very enjoyable. 8-)

MJ,
This is positively delightful. I read with fascination, eager to see what would happen to each of the insects listed and I'm happy (sorry!) to learn of each's fate. Oh well. Everyone can't always live to the conclusion! hahahaha! What fun!

Well done with this story, I enjoyed it thoroughly. It sounded like a kiddies story until Sylvia started weaving her "tail" of insidious deceit! But I still think for older kiddies perhaps. This was a "deftly woven" story that was very clever, well constructed and presented, good characters with alliterated names. Well done, blessings,, Roy

I love a good crime story, and this one, with its unusual characters, made me laugh. Silk shawls, indeed! Perfectly silly and perfectly plotted.

I thought this was very enjoyable. Great use of dialogue. My only thought is you start this off with a terrific narrative. And kinda abandon it. I would encourage you to have that narration interrupt from time to time to avoid the "talking heads". Great job overall - wonderful story.
