I was expecting to perhaps read another jerky, contorted rhyming piece; however, you succeeded in letting me know not to judge a book by its cover! This piece is full of seamless rhymes, profound choices of words and an incredible ending. Please allow me to borrow it when speaking to friends!

See? Just as I have forever advocated, Jaybird1. Always, always--without fail--take the road less traveled. It's less crowded there, fewer people get in your way, and you can get to where you're going much faster than everyone else.

Besides that, it's much more exciting, too!

Nice rhyming.
Great message...

Well it's obvious your friend chose the road less traveled. And didn't get into a rut like the majority did! If the world had more dreamers, it might be a happier place. Well done.

My friend, this is a lovely poem through and through, reflecting the morals of life and the goodness of humility. The rhyme and cadence are artfully done with beautiful wording to convey a thoughtful message about life and the chosen path of an individual. Each line carries an impactful meaning, and each a stanza holds a value, as they all come together to deliver a significant piece representing virtues and worth. And all stemming from the wonders of a great friend of yours. Nevertheless, there are many more meanings one could take from this poem. It communicates to all readers and touches all hearts.

I will be leaving FanStory soon. It has been a truly rewarding and gratifying experience. I am honored to have known you and read your works, for each has had a positive impact on me. Thank you, my friend, and enjoy your path ahead.

It is good to see a poet give an account of someone reflective of good moral values generating the feelings that go with a friendship that obviously you enjoy. A poem of fine rhyme and message.

Jay, sounds like a very unusual friend. Even though he's different he's a good friend. I do like your last two lines the best

Hi Jay. It's interesting that I read a lot of poetry these days about the non-conformer, the person who lives/has lived his/her life to its own beat. In the 50's and 60's these people were not valued for their anti-societal views and lack of enthusiasm for making a living. Now it's the fashion to follow where passion (or lack of it) leads us. Your friend would fall into that category that is so much envied nowadays. Lucky for me I have been able to have many different careers and loved all of them until I decided to switch to something else. Not everyone can do that. Your poem points out there are many ways to achieve contentment. Good rhyming and flow to your poem. Marilyn

A very well-written poem and an unusual friend indeed. Despite his difference from your other friends you are still good friends and it doesn't matter if he keeps forgetting to send you that promised bag.

This is a splendid piece of verse. It might seem a little dated by today's standards but back in 1965 it would have been at the cutting edge of rhyming poetry, and it can still stand the exposure today. The rhyme, flow and meter are bang on the button and, if it is the philosophy that seems dated today, then we are all the losers for that.
