A real gem, this one. Both the poem and the man described herein. How refreshing, a simpler time and life.
Sending you my best today as always,
Sally :]

This sounds like the best philanthropist of our time or like the life Jesus
lived and wanted us all to live. I guess that since you haven't received your bags yet, Jesus was not a nut.

"A Most Uncommon Man", is an extremely well-written and delightfully descriptive piece. This talented poet's work was a pleasure to both read and review. I look forward to seeing your next post.

This is an interesting, well-told story about a man you call your friend (I notice that you wrote it many years ago). After reading it, one thought stands out.
If absurdity was the fault of which your group wouldn't have approved, why then did you attempt to change this honorable man who 'now stands alone,' with unworthy temptations?
Keep on keeping on, Jay!

Well perhaps someone will send you some nice Christmas nuts dear Jay. This man sounds like a fine person indeed, but a rarity and while he might have appeared to be lonely, by the sounds of it he may have achieved internal bliss.
Excellent character study of what sounds like a fascinating man.
Thanks for sharing.

I love it. Sounds like it's written about a very decent and loving man. Sometimes to be different is so much better then following the norm. Excellent poem.

I don't think he was a nut. Just different. Not willing to conform in order to fit in. Not many people have the guts to do that. He must have been someone special.

Beautiful and very thoughtfully written.
A fine dedication to the man you speak of as friend.
It is often hard to capture the essence of someone in words but you have done so.
Blessings

Outstanding! Comparing the inner peace of the shunned one to the worldliness of the crowd. Many of us do stumble and fall, and even make wrong choices when we are young.
I love the gentle words, yet strong message, within your poem.
I love your words of wisdom and the reality of life.
I love that what was once not condoned (but was good) is now yearned for since age has brought wisdom.
Your poem had excellent flow, rhythm, rhyme; and words that painted vivid images in my mind.
Truly exceptional. I am so glad you shared this. May I bookmark it for my granddaughters to read?

I'm in my eighth decade of life living in a retirement community and am amazed at all the people who would still call this man s nut. I'll bet he doesn't have granite countertops in his kitchen or wear Nikes!
