A sarcastic description of the raven fertilizing the dried field. His gift will do no good now.

Keep writing

Thank you very much. But I was focused more on the circling like a crop dusting plane than anything else so I need to work on it :).

A mazing what poetic ideas can be conveyed in this short but interesting format - the 2/4/2 -the raven not often celebrated

thank you very much, Z! I really didn't think it would do anything as I was just practicing haiku with this. HUGS for your always generous kindness and support.

Congratulations on having your tiny poem place in this highly competitive contest. I like the "crop dust" wordplay and the perfectly parallel photo selection. Keep on writing about the birds and especially your namesake! Smiles- Joan

Hi! this combination of a sun ravaged field and a hungry raven was so realistic that I could almost feel the fiery heat and the raven's frustration at not finding suitable food. Very good in only 8syllables. wiljacro.

Thank you, Bob. Birds over a field always remind me of crop dusting. I will not even place but the lovely thought made it worth the effort.

The raven is a symbol of death. That seems to be the case here. "Scorched" is a wonderful verb choice. Looks like more of a crop bust that crop dust. LOL Good luck in the contest, Monica.

Thank you very much, Shari. LOL at "bust" when I saw the picture I thought automatically about crop dusting which led to the write. I am always very grateful for your lovely words of encouragement and support ... not to mention the giggles that often go along with it.

I like this! That accurately describes what it looks like this raven is doing. This is SUCH a difficult challenge, 2-4-2, but I think this is great! Blessings....

Oh how much can I say I thank you. You are great at these and so this means tons to me. I doubt it does anything with the judges, but words of generous praise from folks like you mean more to me than any ribbon. HUGS and deep gratitude.

These words create an image of drought where the crop literally becomes dust. All of the imagery in this short piece depicts destruction.
