This is very clever and I enjoyed the humor and the fantasy. It is a fantasy. There isn't one elected official or one wannabe who has not dipped his/her fingers into the lucrative political/corporate/financial pie at taxpayers expense. Good write, though. Marilyn

Great entry into the Political Rant contest. Cute and very witty! Loved the verse:
"It is up to people like you to rise up and cast out the
Lying, avaricious deceivers who claim to be redeemers
Do not pay homage to the self-righteous, religious right
Refuse their attempts to peddle sin and flames of fright
Great rhythm and flow to the piece. Very much enjoyed the read. Good luck in the contest. God bless and hugs, Susanne

A guy in america asked people "Hilary is going to expand the sharia law program do you think this is a good idea?" Only 1 said I don't know what it is, the rest said yes I guess so. Your poem is spot on the indoctrination; the poor education; the non readers or as I call them the nodders i.e politicians say so and so is bad and they nod. I also like your strong vocab.

Of course, your illustration works well, since you've used an octopus as the speaking main character. I like the way you chose to frame your POLITICAL RANT...as a kind of kid 's story....interesting. Good luck with your contest entry. Well done.
Thank you for sharing...P

"Don't be frightened all are welcome here
To the precipice of the brave and the free" ... "Frightened" would be grammatically correct in this instance, Poet. Also, speech tags (quotation marks) are needed at closing...
Holding accountable those who prevaricate ... Yes, those who beat around the bush, dilly-dallying while trying to come up with answers usually have excuses for doing so which won't hold water...
Weed out those who foster oligarchy ... Absolutely, by all means, weed them out. Small minority groups such as those in Royal families have little idea what the common man needs, wants, or has to put up with to survive. Only someone who's "been there, done that" can know for sure ...
Good poetic political rant.
Best of luck to you in the contest.

A very astute octopus...
Those on both sides have become zealots for their causes..The octopus seems to be a Leftie...beyond the shenanigans of the Democrats..
He goes beyond Bernie..more like Varoufakis of Greece.
The poem warns of a dystopia if people do not change...

Thanks for the cogent comments. Yes, the Harley's region is a Utopia, but it is a goal, even if humanity seems to make it impossible. It would be nice to give it a try.

I love this political rant about our clown like leaders. This is very well written and I love the picture. Your octopus has it right, we are a greedy land where wealth is worshiped has a God. It can also get you elected. Can you tell I liked it. Good luck in the contest. Have a great day and God bless.

Beautiful artwork that complements your poem very well. You really take an ironic view on modern politics as I do too. To use an octopus to correct us people is a fantastic idea. Best wishes for the prompt.
