I know that some towns give awards to floats in their Fourth of July parades. What trophy was the Pink Posse competing for? Now that the deadline has been extended, can you add more details about YOURSELF? Why are you a member of this group? Also, what were your thoughts and feelings as the weather worsened. I would also like more description of the horses' reactions during the climax of the parade. I noticed there is no maximum word limit and you have plenty of time to revise. Good luck.

Thank you. I didn't notice that they extended the deadline. If that's so then I will add some more to the story. In that particular parade, there was a trophy for the best horse group. Two other parades we rode in gave trophies too. One paid fifty dollars for best horse troop. I thought I only had a half hour to complete this so gave the basic details.

I enjoyed your story despite the shortness! I was only in the US on ene Fourth of July, we were in Washington, the day was very hot but dry, we had to walk to our hotel, too many people to catch a cab. Great fireworks dislpiay, we camped at the Lincoln memorial! But you're right, it always seems to rain at certain outdoor events, well done, well written, good luck, blessings, Roy

Good story. Too bad that the storm ruined your day. Tho, it's good none of you were hurt. Well written, progresses well and is a cohesive story.

Maybe need to redo this sentence >>> concerned(.) (W)ith the humidity being so high(,) (it often created) {often made for} a steamy day in Michigan.

Your call of course. It's your story. Enjoyed reading it.

This is a nice story about your IT WAS ONE OF THOSE DAYS. Good luck with your contest entry. Is this The Pink Posse? Was it a bomb or fireworks, or what that caused the boom that scared your horses? Easy to visualize. Great job.

Thank you for sharing. ..Penny

Thank you. It was thunder and lightning that scared the horses. A severe storm moved in very fast that day; there was no warning.

I think I've already reviewed this story but here I go again. Rain and storm. Ah, yes. Hubby and I came from Sunny Queensland to unpredictable Melbourne for our youngest son's wedding. Wind of 90K's rain that flooded every park in a ten K radius. Melbourne turned on a beaut. The only two who weren't frozen were the bride and groom. Regards Anne

Thank you. Yep, a severe thunderstorm moved in without warning. It came fast and caught everyone off guard. It was pretty scary but we laughed about it later.

hi there,

I enjoyed this short well-written piece. You do a good job describing the scene and atmosphere. Good ending to the piece as well.

This morning we gave our horses - possibly that rather than this here.

to make matter worse,- matters.

We turned them around and, kept them under control - no comma necessary after and.

All the best

Thank you. I am always waiting until the last minute to enter some of these contests. By doing that I make a few errors. Thanks to folks like you someone usually catches them.

Isn't that the way it goes? Every time something nice is happening, something will go wrong. I loved the description of your outfits, and the horses, I am sure you made a striking picture. At least you know you would undoubtedly have won, you couldn't fail to have done so. I loved the photo of you all, very nice! Good luck in this contest, it certainly was one of those days! :) Sandra xxx

Thank you. That wasn't a normal rain, it was a downpour. We still had a great time. I don't think the horses appreciated the whole deal. LOL

This has actually happened to us quite often when we were out on the parade ground. Rain has a way of putting a damper on things that's for sure.

Good story and I have experienced the same kind of thing here in England but not with horses but attending parades and functions and the day starts of beautiful but just as the fun starts the heavens open up and it pours with rain.
