So true! Although, thank goodness, generally school's do help us many more shine above the sadness of poverty, while it still increases around our world; loss of life and hope for all squashed unable to grow and flower with unique gifts to this life! How many crowding our streets may have sat eagerly in classes, and be full of wonderful stories and potential few will ever share? At least, for many of us in the limited institutions of segregated conditioning that founded modern Western Prosperity, especially in this `lucky country' still attracting the fruits of endeavour from overseas, could strive for a better future for our children with a belief in the world and the country we gave our best too!

Even the love built and shared in our homes today, is oft too stressed and exploited by bureaucracy that fattened as love gives way to rational economic competition for survival and fear of reality!

Oliver Twist needs new recognition in the drug, addition, and sexual exploitative, undergrowth of terrorism and despair today where more and must must find `family warmth' on the streets!

My view, happy to catch up a little while nurturing myself through the end of the flu, blessings Aussie, Maureen*&*

This is an uplifting story in poetic form. I like how you helped this girl reach her full potential. It makes the reader think and always remember, like you said, you never know who is beside you.

No I hadn't seen this one, Kay. What a sad but lovely story. She must have felt like Cinderella thanks to your kindness and your mothers. So sad that there are many children like her in the world. I loved this one, well done, my caring friend. xxx Sandra

Hello Mrs Seagull, Glad you liked it. I always remembered how badly she was treated. Not her fault, she was a change-of-life baby, born to old parents that were none too bright. How was the cruise? Much love, Kay. :-)

Beautiful story, Kay. a perfect example
of "don't judge a book by its cover"
Your compassion saved her. she was
very lucky to have you and your parents
in her life.
Thanks for sharing this.

What a heartwarming story. It shows we are shaped by how people treat us. It also represents how we are not only our bodies but we have minds. Was she so clever because nobody would talk to her so she threw herself into books.

Thank you for reviewing; I think she buried her self in books and in the end, it paid off. Cheers, Kay.

A very well-written poem. People are quick to judge outer appearances of others. A child don't see the ugly and make friends easier.

Beauty is only skin deep they say.

So correct in not being able to just a book by its cover.

Seems all she needed was one friend to help her blossom into all she could be.

You describe Judith very well with the compassion she deserves. So many children are judged with scorn not seeing in a tattered dress someone with the brightest of minds. Your own compassion and what I know of you speaks volumes about you character and caring. I'd give you a six for just this (I am out of them). The poem is a lively description of Judith and her renaissance.

This is beautifully written, deeply moving, and oh, so true. A kind and generous hand can make all the difference in the world. I don't know if this is fiction but I got a feeling it is based on a true story. Looking out for each other is not as hard as people think and makes the world such a better place.

Hello my friend, Yes, it is a true story. I was in High School when I met this poor kid. Some people stick in your memory, she was special. Love, Kay.
