This poem, The Life of a Geezerete, is a fun work that helps change our view of getting older from one of being feeble to being free. Love the term, Geezerete. I'll try it out on their wife to see if she likes it. Good stuff.

I am laughing at your comments, Bill. I hope your wife don't take the term wrong. :o) I endearingly call my husband, "Old Geezer" and he calls me his Geezerete. :O)

Atta girl! I love your spirit and attitude! You can laugh at yourself, and do it in rhyme! "Old" is not the right word for you.

Actually, "geezerete" doesn't sound right, either. Maybe the more feminine geezerina, or geezerella would do.

Wishing you good health, and good luck in the contest,

Ogden

This is cute and I''m sure many can relate.
Comes A time when we just have to stop worrying about aging
and enjoy life..
Your rhyming is very good and the meter flows smoothly.
Good luck in the contest.

Is that a picture of you? Are you 81? You certainly don't look it. I loved your poem. Entitling yourself a "geezerete" made me laugh my butt off. Great rhyme and meter. An overall great poem. Good luck in the contest. God bless and hugs, Susanne

Thank you ,Susanne, for your review of my poem. No, it's not me but a picture of my Mom. She is 87 now and still
laughing and going strong. The poem, however, was about me. I'm 67... so old enough to be a geezerete. My husband and I have a running joke. He's the old geezer and I'm his geezerete. I'm so glad you laughed at my silliness.

Hahaha..."Guess I'll keep it...til my time is done," indeed, Anonymous Poet. In fact, when you think about it, you really don't have much of a choice, do you?
Great entry for the contest, and very fun to read.
Best of luck!
~Dean ;)

I loved your poem. Yes, we all get old. I'm nearing your age also. The wonderful part of getting old, is that you leave a well lived life behind. To know you made a memory for your loved ones to keep when God takes you. That's your legacy! Your poem was well written with a touch of humor, which I like. And our best humor, is when it points toward us. Well done.

From one geezerette to another: Good job! This is very well written and I love the subtle humor. My husband is a Geezer too. I'll be 80 next month. Great job on the poem!

Awesome!
I now look forward to becoming a geezerette myself. As a poem with humour it is just lovely. From a literary point of view there are issues with rhyme and meter, but frankly for the purpose you wrote this, they don't matter. Well done.

Thank you, Hayley, for commenting on my poem. Yes, I'm afraid my rhyme and meter got away from me... I'm glad it did not spoil your fun.
