A good tweaking of the reader: "They recently rescued the Black Lab from the Astatula Humane Society" A much healthier statement than some,
'every boy needs a good gun.' : "Every boy needs a real good dog," A little gallows humor: "Did Larry snuff out his wife?" I'm starting at the end of the list, on the ones about Cody. I will eventually have read them all.

Hi Brett,

Nice little tale you have crafted here from your existing characters. Good pacing and tone throughout the piece.

All the best

Glad you enjoyed this little tale. Just something different from the Cody Schroder novels for his many fans to enjoy.

I don't understand how this was in the Kidnapped contest, but otherwise the Sheriff's choice of bedtime stories for Cody is really weird. I'm left with a boy dreaming of a body hanging in a meat locker. haha

What other Bedtime Stories would the Sheriff tell Cody besides those dealing with crimes?
reply by barkingdog on 09-Jul-2016
There's always Barnes & Noble or the library. Lots of stories there. They're called books. haha

Cody much prefers the Sheriff's real life stories to any other. Perhaps we should contribute to Barnes and Nobles, and libraries, collections. What do you think?

    Go for it. haha

I enjoy these stories about and with Cody. Very well written and a great entry to the contest being held with the prompt. Way to go.

This was just something a little different than the Cody Schroder novels.

Many FanStorians have asked me to show other dimensions of what they call "The most popular character being written about on FanStory today".

So, I will probably write other stories surrounding Cody for them to enjoy as well as the novels.

I find the story interesting, however, this Sheriff sharing this kind of crime scene story with a child who appears to not even be his teens yet, would be tantamount to child endangerment and or abuse - for the graphic content alone. Also, why is this young kid with a Sheriff instead of his parents? Anyway, thank you for sharing.

    Appreciate your comments and support.

However, there is a lot of backstory you seem not aware of involving these two characters.

Good effort.

I thought it came to an abrupt end.

The only point I can really make is that you talk about the sheriff then become the sheriff.

The part I did not understand about your review was where you said "you talk about the sheriff then become the sheriff" I don't see that???

Author, I do believe you have met the challenge with exceptional writing. Wonderful development of characters, imagery and plot in such a small frame. Truly exceptional... jlsavell

That is a cute little story...I think it was a good idea to have someone tell the story to someone else...I didn't see anything to suggest you change or correct...Good luck in the contest...
