Thank you, Evi. The English are tough and don't like to be pushed around. Good for them. Marilyn

It showed great courage and leadership to pull out of the EU, but the debate continues whether it was a good thing for England to do this. But then there is always debate whenever a country makes a big move. Well done, Marilyn.

Thank you, Rod. I think it's an excellent move. The English are tough, as you know, and they will make it. The rest of the world needs more of their backbone. I think other countries will follow suit when they get fed up. Marilyn

Great sentiment and action. My family live in Spain and they don't like using euros instead of pesetas. Things are more expensive. Good job!

May you have LOve and laughter in your life.

Hi Gypsy. Thank you for your review of this piece. Kudos to the British for freeing their country from the EU. World leaders are pushing hard for globalization and we must resist that. England has taken the first step. Hopefully other nations will follow suit. Marilyn

I admired your use of the short 5-7-5 form to say so much in so few words. It is a very complicated step and I hope England becomes stronger for it. Your title and flag image are just right! Cheers- Joan

A courageous step indeed, and one that did not find much favour either in Scotland or Ireland. It seems that this course stands to split the United Kingdom as well as undermining the stability of Europe. However the unwieldy bureaucracy of Brussels has piled once nonsense on another for the UK and I'm not altogether surprised at the outcome. There may be hard times ahead but there is still something of the British Bulldog spirit about to set things on a better course.

Thank you, Tony, for your review and supportive comments of my short piece. My sentiments exactly. The British are tough. They will work out what's best for them. I'm surprised they hung in there this long. Other countries will follow, I think. Several are already contemplating re-thinking the union. Every country has the right to control its own destiny. Hi Marilyn. Well... I'm not too sure about this being a good move for England... but I guess we will have to wait and see how it all unwinds. This will create so many complications with trade deals, etc. and the economy. I'm not saying they were right or wrong, it was a legitimate vote... but there will be some separation pains. A well structured 5-7-5, my friend, reflecting your POV. I will follow their journey to 'freedom from the EU' with great interest! Warmest regards, Marijke :o)

Hi Marijke. I think there will be upheaval initially, but they have two years to work out the details of the separation. I think other countries will follow. Countries have the right to determine their own destiny and it's hard to imagine strong people like the British hanging in there, limping along with an unsatisfactory arrangement for as long as they did. Kudos to them. Marilyn

Marilyn, a nice little tribute to England. Bravo!!
I'm sure Europe will be seeing a lot of changes in the
near future. Your short piece says a lot and highlights
that one can walk tall with their own decisions and not
have to always follow. ~DD

It shall always be England to me.
Scotland may separate. It voted 'remain.'

The press is churning the fear of economic repercussions but England and the EU have two years to work out the treaty. A lot can happen in two years.

Great commentary poem.

Thank you for your review and comments. I see you are well on top of things, Ellen. Good for you. Some people don't have a clue. We all need the freedom to decide our own destiny. Things will work out alright in the end. I believe many more countries will separate. Scotland is going to revisit the referendum as well as other countries considering it. Marilyn

Hi, Marilyn

= Great poem, but we're not so happy with the outcome.
= The decision cost us quite a bit of money with Tom's retirement from England.
= Just hope the the spiral doesn't last too long. Grrrrr.

Hi Jax. Thank you for reviewing. The British are a strong willed people. For them to have given up their sovereignty in the first place to be in the EU must have been a hard decision. Now they have it back. I think it's a good decision. There will be upheaval for a while, but each country has the right to decide its own destiny. I think other countries will drop out, too. Marilyn
