This a lovely poem ClydeLee. When you talk about your father, you sound proud and very happy. Our parents have given us some great advice in our time, but we failed to listen all the way. Then when we grow up, we see what they meant. Even sometimes after we we've grown up, we still fail to hear those words of wisdom. But you seemed to have listened to your father quite a bit though. I can tell by your writing, God Bless!

Your poem is very touching as written. You used four-stanzas to detail your father's valuable wise words to take to heart. You were very fortunate to have a kindheartedness father who could warn you about life with a gentle voice. At 10-12 yrs old, he recognized that the age was a critical point in life that you could understand and remember; therefore he spoke to you about life. Indeed you did remember now to see that his warning was true. The third stanza expresses lots of emotion that your father had at the time because he knew that there will be hardships and to avert them is to stay close to God for guidance. Your meaning in this poem is clear and very easy to understand in that your father was a wise soul and his love to you was unconditional. A very concise poem. Best.
