Thank you. Wow. It's been a while since I posted a Wally story. There are several of them. As a pre-school teacher, your opinion means a lot.

I keep seeing your name everywhere on fanstory, but I think this is my first time reading your work. I enjoyed reading this poem today. You have a natural story telling ability that would appeal to kids and adults of all ages. You employ a fun and lilting meter with each line, and sensible rhymes in an aabb pattern. You're double talented to provide your own artwork.

Congratulations for this nomination for POM. A much deserved nod. Best wishes in the voting booth. I'm sure your poem will be popular.

Hi, this flows so well. A great story within a poem. Very nice rhyme, rhythm, and meter. Sorry, I'm late with it. Just about to publish my first book and life has been very hectic!

The intrepid Wally tries another venture in this well-written story-poem, fun for kids and adults alike. The deliberate use of words such as 'froze' and 'frost-bited' was a great choice -- it adds to the tongue-in-cheek humor. I love the surprise of the two-foot slope! The rhyme and meter work well, and the artwork helps bring it all to life. Nice work.

I wish I had your skill in poetry. This poem really jogs my imagination. For some reason I picture Wily Coyote stumbling his way down the slopes haha. Definitely a fun read.

Awww! What a charming, adorable poem. I'm not a kid, but I enjoyed it anyway! (LOL) I think you have a winner here - I can picture the whole thing, AND the faces of little ones as this poem is read to them. :)

Thank you. Wally has done lots of things since his "birth." Still lots to do. I tried to retire him, but everyone kept asking about him, so here we go. I'm glad you enjoyed my little story. I appreciate your kind remarks. 8-)

Hi damommy,

Oh, this is a cute, fun read for both little readers and big readers. :) I thoroughly enjoyed it. This was very well written and presented, and I especially loved your "decided/frost-bited" rhyme. It made me chuckle. A good lesson for children in never giving up and to just keep trying. Your artwork is cute too!

Thank you. You're so kind. I'm glad it made you laugh. I couldn't resisted "frost-bited."

Wally has learned many things in the past, but he now wants to branch out some. I have no idea what will happen next.

Thank you for reviewing this. I appreciate your comments very much. 8-)

What a cute story! Have you had it long enough to try it out on the grandkids? Or is it too new. You are going to make a book of those, aren't you. I can't imagine any kid not loving his/her grandmother's original book of stories and poems and then reading it to their kids. My favorite is 'decided' with 'frost-bited' (my mac fought me hard on THAT one--the auto-spelling thing. I've got it turned off in preferences but it overrides all the time. A little like Washington DC--thinks it knows what I want better than I do! haha. Did YOU do the illustration? Very cute poem.

Thank you. Yes, the grandchildren like my stories. I was just thinking this morning how I should bind them for keepsakes.

Yes, I did the illustration. I'm still pretty raw at it. I've been taking sketching lessons online. It's helped a lot, but I have a long way to go.

One lady on here, I wish I could remember her name, gave me some good advice. She said when she taught classes, she asked, "So you want to learn to draw?" or something similar, and then she held up the eraser, and said to keep using it until they got it right. LOL. I may need a new eraser soon. 8-)

Yes, the eraser is a good idea. On the keyboard, it's my delete key and I use it a lot! haha.
