This made me smile and smile again. I read it twice because I loved the tale. The rhyming was just right as I read it aloud and it didn't even bring out a little cloud. Excuse me, I couldn't resist. (I write freestyle and rhyming is NOT my forte) OK, back to the poem which I really loved. Will you put it in a book for your children?

I'ill have to say this poem is very nice, funny, joyful, and written very nicely. It will not only b enjoyable for kids, for adults as well. I'm not a kid and loved it. Major LeDuc seems like one of those old fashioned kind men who loves his family a lot, and loves helping people as well. He is just so kind hearted. If anyone exists like that anywhere, somebody is truly blessed to have them. Seems like it only happens in fairy tale land. LOL! But your poem is really good. A lot of humor and love combined together. Beautiful! God bless!

What a great piece of rhyme for children with duck filled adventures included I could see this as a cartoon on the lines of Beatrice Potter with a narrative being the poem being read as different picture or actions were portrayed great stuff.

This work has reached the exceptional level

Kazza, this is a wonderful rhyming yarn, which would be appreciated by young children. Your Major character (ha ha) is full of fun and honourable to boot, although not exactly great at getting things done. Who knows what he will get up to tomorrow, or whether he will ever make it to town?

Lovely flowing meter and excellent rhyme make this a pleasure to read aloud.

If there is a fault, it is that you have made an already long poem a bit longer by adding in the rescue of Mr Goose, when perhaps the focus should have been solely on the bunny rescue.

Should be a contender in the contest.

Steve

Wow! Thank you for your extremely generous review and stars.
I have taken on board your comments. The story is a long one written with the idea of writing more than one story, which I have ( two so far). Mr G-Goose features more in the second one so I thought I would give him a 'cameo' part in this one, as an introduction.
Maybe I should have thought it through a little, although I have read it to two of my grandchildren aged 3 and 14, both seemed to appreciate it for different reasons. I think the little one would have liked illustrations which are beyond my capabilities : (
Anyway, it's always exciting to hear different opinions and I am truly grateful for your wonderful rating.
    Many, many thanks : )

My pleasure. It's not really a big deal having the extra little section and children won't care. Some reviewers don't like lengthy poems, although it's hard to avoid it when you have to tell a story.

This is a difficult contest to win. I have managed it once (or twice?) before. If you care to peek into my portfolio, you'll see I won with a children's poem called 'Cake of the Year' in December 2015 so poems for kids do have a track record...

Oh my God! This is so precious and so damn funny!!! You made me laugh and smile today with all your wonderful imagery and the rhythm and rhyme are absolutely spot on! I loved it. Can see this being read to a group of children sitting in a circle at the library and enjoying it so much!!!! Great luck in the contest...this is an awesome contender. See you in the voting booth! God bless and hugs. Susanne
