You tell us a lovely story in this poem. I loved your innovative characters. Major Leduc and Mr G Goose. This would make a fantastic picture book or children's tv series.
best wishes
Fiona

Hi Kazz,

I'm still laughing. This is hysterically funny! I just know your kids loved it.

I'm sure you'll feel better," he said with a laugh,
"If you made your way home and climbed into a bath."

One suggestion here. you'll/make/climb -or- you'd/made

tumbledown, one word

This is so charming. It's just a delight to read.

Thanks for sharing, and good luck in the contest!
Lana

I'm not too much for long poems about animals acting as people, or cartoons, though did enjoy Popeye, even though Brutus acted like an animal when he got mad... a long time ago when I was a kid, and for some reason, never liked Bugs Bunny, or Daffy Duck so sarcastic they seemed... though I'm sure your kids enjoy every word, about this gentle duck, and Bunny, and about their adventures, being if mum is reading it do them, makes it even better, if they can sit that long depending on their ages, and saves money too, for buying them books to read to them, if you like doing this a lot.

Your story is very well written with rhyme, and excellent for children to also learn to read for themselves, because the rhyme makes it a fun read.

Best Wishes for your entry...Caressa_08

Thank you for reading and for your excellent rating, especially as you are not partial to cartoon characters or lengthy poems. I really appreciate that you took the time to do so : )

Kazzawin, what a delightful poem for children. I enjoyed
reading it, too. It had such a nice rhythm to it and great
rhyming. I'm glad Major LeDuc made it back home.

This is just fantastic. What a great adventure you told. Very creative and clever. The rhyme and meter are superb making this read very smoothly. This is one of the best children's poems I have ever read here on the site

Rhyming children stories are a BIG hit with my little granddaughters. I will save this one for their next sleepover and I will read it to them. I can hear their giggles already! Very cute story.

Kazzawin,

Wow, you are so talented to be able to carry that meter and
unforced rhymes throughout this long piece is impressive.
You also have quite the imagination and it was a pleasure to
read it with your fine wit and nice imagery along with a good
teaching lesson in the end.

I gave this contest a try and ended up with 8 lines...(not yet
posted;) lol Yours looks like a winner to me.

Linda

Thank you for such an awesome review.
Apparently this is a very hard contest to win, especially with a long kids poem!
The trouble is I quite enjoy letting go sometimes and writing fun stuff.
    So I thought it worth a try : )

Thank you for the stars . . . I really do appreciate it : )

I'm pretty sure that would be difficult to beat. I'm kind of embarrassed to send mine out...;) It seemed like you enjoyed writing it and I bet your kids loved it too.

This is kind of a knight in shining armor story with the duck as the hero who takes a journey and finds characters along his way who need rescuing. The duck is a loveable character whose story is told very well in rhyming quatrains that act somewhat like chapters in a book. I'm sure children will be delighted with the characters and comforted by the safe family ending.

It takes a lot for me to give six stars, but I really like this. I too, write picture books for my children and now grandchildren. I also review children's and young adult books, AND was an elementary school teacher. I love when books capture a child, and I truly believe that this one will. I can almost see the pictures for this book. Major Leduc is a lovable character that likes to help. I like that too. Thank you so much for sharing!! Keep it up!!

Well done. I would definitely recommend this as a great picture book!
