Wow. I'm honored. This really was written the moment after hearing the news. I think you'd enjoy his music. Purple Rain at least is a beautiful melody I think. Some of his stuff is a bit out there, but so am I. HAHAHA! There's a couple videos in the music forum. I am truly so happy you enjoyed this. Thanks so much. mikey

To be honest, I listened to several and wasn't impressed. He's great on the guitar. His falsetto is supreme, but his lower range made it hard to hear with all the acoustics in the background. To each his own. I personally think he's transgender.

Not far from it. 62 inches and I'm heading that way myself as I continue to shrink like the dude in the movie.

And your verse flows like cascading tears finding tracks on the page. It recalls the one who needed something beyond the name that was known to us all. A symbol, saying I'm nothing, I'm everything, I'm unique.
And he was. Like Jackson, Presley, Mama Cass, Janis Joplin, Buddy, Jim and big Jim, lives lost to the seedy excesses of fame...and far too young.
The fame becomes the legend.
Loved your choice of colour scheme perfect for the Purple Rain Man. This eulogy is terrific and I hope writing it was cathartic for you.

Yes, this was within seconds of hearing the news and it was what I had to let out. He was a major influence on me as a musician and I also found him to be just an interesting cool person. Plus he would have to be younger than me and I'm still deluding myself that I AM YOUNG. Hahaha!

I guess his age adds a lot to the shock and since I'm a musician that doesn't feel all that old and certainly not at all DONE, it somehow hit me hard. I sing that damn Purple Rain song all the time and now he's gone and made that a tough task, yes? Well, we're still here. That's the cool part. Thanks for stopping by. He had a lot of influence on me as a musician and I'm sure his age added to the impact. I've not given in to the notion I'm old yet. HAHAHA! So anyone younger than me dying just doesn't mesh with my view of things very well. Pleased you found this to your liking. I wrote this right off the top of my head moments after hearing the news. I'd have to say, he inspired it and deserves the credit if it's worthy. mikey
