This is a brilliant antonym poem. I see that it has won first place. Good choice! What more can I say? The poem is perfect but you know that by now. (smile)

Yes, I think I read one of your other poems and it made me go to your portfolio where I found, "The Calm". I just had to read it and reply.

Thanks for writing and posting something worth reading. It is getting rare to find such here-about. The word 'frangipani' which I recall without the final 'i' like spotting motion in my peripheral vision. I remember it from childhood, but did not even know it is a flower except for the illustration and the context.

I probably write a lot of stuff people wouldn't think worth reading - this was me in a more pensive mood. They are such beautiful flowers, and they have a wonderful scent. Thanks for the lovely review - Craig

I looked it up and was floored. I have five mature plumeria trees on my grounds purchased five years ago.

Three of them produced seed pods two years ago and I planted a passel of them. I produced about fifty new trees, gave over thirty away as gifts to friends and loved ones and currently have about fifteen two-year-old trees in pots. The flowers, unfortunately have little odor.

    How lovely :)

Are they all the white/yellow ones? That's the kind I knew as a child, though I believe they come in other colours. Unfortunately, I live in a cold climate now, and I don't think they would take too well to that.

    White/Yellow, yes.

Hi Craig

A sad lament worded so beautifully. You really have a good heart with this lovely tribute to such a tragedy. It is a shame we don't learn from these horror situations, or even from the good in the world. Greed or power or sometimes just for the sake of cruelty, always manages to rear their ugly heads some way or another. Your poem brings remembrance for the Bali victims. Great use of the 'f' alliteration and wonderful image for your presentation. Well considered wording and theme with superb recognition for your antonyms. A well deserved win. Congratulations. Hugs - Lovi xoxox

Thanks so much, Lovi, for the lovely review. I was listening to John Williamson's Flower on the Water as I wrote it. You probably know the song? That helped a lot with the inspiration. Being human can be depressing sometimes. Your kind words are much appreciated :)

A well deserved win by this metaphoric description of knowledge. It is a wonderfully smelling perfume when it brings people together.

Congratulaltions.

This is a beautiful poem with references both obvious and subtle. Thanks for the mention of the Balinese tradition -- that really deepens the meaning. The flower and the water are clear physical details while the knowledge and ignorance are abstractions, and so create another type of acronym. Very nice.

Hi CD Richards, congratulations on winning the Antonym Poem, with this stunning poem. Well done. Stunning, complemented with beautiful artwork. A first for Australia (and a second - me!). But I believe your Antonym was superior to any others I have read, including mine. Warmest regards, Marijke :o) (Tasmania)

Technically quite accurate. The definition of ignorance as an active thing, a deliberate refusal to learn, bends it away from being a pure opposite of knowledge. Still, an accurate antonym poem.

Yes, good entry and use of these on an antonym, knowledge does have a good scent to it compared to ignorance. Good luck on this and have a great day.
