What a fun and entertaining read. Although, it might sound sad to the young folks, to us older set, we are just darn glad to still be here, at least some of the time. Yes, you are so right about how time slips by. I can remember listening to my grand parents always saying "The older we get, the faster time flies by." The most ridiculous statement ever made, I thought. And now, damned if it don't! One day six years old, and in a blink past sixty. Thanks for the great read, and good luck in the contest. :-)

Ok Aussie, I'm so far behind on my messages, even writing plans this week, so decided it was time to go exploring instead. And, I thought my the title, I might find some truth in your words, we have much in common. Yes! I am but half a decade ahead, but you outdo me a million times with you humour! I love it. And, we need to laugh, especially when we do look in - or away from the mirror, that we so easily forget actually greets us daily!

Thank you for all your clever sharing, but this for me is a particular gem. I shall bookcase it. Happy writing, Maureen*&*

it's nice to reflect back to those golden years in the 60s and then the seventies came around based on Vietnam War in Russian and thenwe are in a 40-year pattern and in the next 200 years five more timetimes and I guarantee you one of those is going to be new Killer Instinct on a lot of land and kill a lot of people in the same victims just like in Iraq when we went over them bombed and destroyed innocent women and children their families work all because of this notion of intent weapons of destruction of the bushmaster which put us in the black and we haven't been able to get out of the black since then we're still spending massive amounts of our precious $2 that we need for helping the elderly food housing on bullets and bombs bullets and bombs make for a nice title commentary about the we each and every day we wake up and don't give thanks for what we have instead we'd rather take out a gun and go and shoot something and take it that person's Pleasures away in my particular sphere that happened in 03 when my son was killed by an idiot who took my Pleasures away because he was so depressed and wanted to die and then 8 months later he took away my old wife when she committed suicide Ricky 1024

HI Kay, I know what you are saying....these days I just keep saying I am to old for this....and to old for that... LOL...where did my youth go???...when I was young it didn't seem to be going so fast...now I go to bed...and I'm a year older when I wake up...hummmmm...sigh...I had to laugh at some of your descriptions of growing old...very well written sweet angel...the one who said the golden years are the best years of our lives...must be 20 years old...LOL...love ya girl...xxoo Linda

"If walking is good for your health, the postman would be immortal."........Ha-ha! Ya' know, I'd honestly never though of it in quite that way before, Kay. But hey, when you're right, you're right.

All of this little quips and anecdotes were very funny, but I'll just highlight a few of my favorites for the thrill of it:

These days I spend a lot of time thinking about the hereafter. I go somewhere to get something, and then wonder what I'm "here after." ........Heh, this one was very gooooood...

My dear-old dad said to me one day "you go to bed young and wake-up old," he was spot on. I didn't understand him when I was young, I sure do now.
..........Very true...

Kids in the backseats cause accidents; and backseats cause kids.........Oh, I hate to say it, but I could relate to this one most of all. I won't tell you why, but I'm sure you could probably guess if coaxed.

Great stuff, Kay. This should be a strong contender in this contest.
I wish you the best of luck with it.

Late it reading this, but absolutely loved it! I only hope some of it, at least, is tongue in check. I'm thinking too that you've probably heard a bit of it along your journey and it's good to see you've not lost your sense of humor along the way. It reminds me too of this saying: "Of all the thing's I've lost in life, it's my mind that I miss the most." I enjoyed reading this so much. Loren

You are a riot. I'm laughing in my cereal as I prod through this wonderful piece of artful story which should be immortalized as published fiction (non-fiction?). Lovely prose Kay - love Alan

I truly chuckled at this piece Kay, how well it applies to those of us getting up there in years.

It is so well written, and despite line breaks needed between paragraphs in just a couple of places, I will not mark it down since it reads so well and smoothly.

Thanks for sharing, and good luck in the contest.

This is very amusing Kay. Just full of my favorite cleches.
I remember when Eggs were said to be bad for you and then I saw an interview with a man who was 103 and that is what he lived on. Whiskey and eggs. He was very thin and didn't have any pain. Who Knew? HAHAHA Good job dear. Love it. Nancy

Hi, Kay

This is an absolute gem of a write. I'm going to save it for future reference. So many funny 'insights'. I love this one, especially, for my own personal reasons:

'... sagging so much my boobs are playing a tune on my knees.'

What a delightful read, and an excellent contest entry, my friend. Good luck with the committee!

Hugs, Bev
