Hi Chrissy. I really enjoyed and identified with (gulp!) your well written poem about snakes. When I lived in the California mountains we had plenty of rattlers. Just as you say--always take care when in the yard and walking. I came home from shopping one day and found a 5 foot rattler in my yard. Luckily my dogs were in the house. The snake wrangler removed it. Marilyn

Christine,

Your are very good at writing beautiful poems no matter what the subject. As always the rhyming and meter are superb and the flow of this great poem is very smooth. (sorry I am out of six stars, this is worthy of one) Now, getting to the message I am terrified of any and all crawly things. A water bug will have me running for dear life. I enjoyed the read and make sure you stay clear of those snakes. LOL....................Portia

Thanks Portia I enjoy my poetry writing and there are so many things to write about and I must admit I was a little nervy during this walk but seeing our Australian Echidna in the bush instead of a snake was a bonus. Oh O will stay clear of those snakes and any other one too LOL Big Cheers to you Christine 😃

Ha, now you're in territory that always gives me a start--snakes. I love the sign, Local Snakes.

Beautiful meter and rhymes with your poem by the way. The first stanza had me tapping my foot right along.

HAAAA. What a humorous ending. It's just a spider boys. LOL.

Great poem Christine. You got the know how for sure.

Hi Gloria, Lovely to hear from you and thanks for readingvmy snake tale. the new sign had me thinking as I was walking along Eyes peeled though and I was pleased that the movement was only an echdina . they sometimes come out also but they do remind me of a porcupine so dont touch either. Ewww .... snakes are one thing I truly cannot abide and for one to even come near my dear furry friend would be a horror! I know we shoudl love and respect all of God's creatures BUT this one did get us kicked out of Eden so I think we are allowed to say what we like about the slithery vermin. This is well penned and I always LOVE the way you take a simple every day event and turn it into something poetic. Nicely done and thank you very much for sharing it.

Hi Monica Thanks for your review and yes I am not a big fan of snakes either ( I nearly stepped on one when I was a little girl and my Dad warned me to jump off some hay bails and boy did I jump so high and long It was like the wind took me LOL.
I just see things and then start composing in my head and then come home and write it down ( before I forget .I have a bad memory and could not recite my poems off by heart if my depended on it Ha Ha)
Glad you enjoyed this one 'Eyes on the path ' Cheers Christine😃

I don't like snakes either. Yuck. I was glad to push the picture up the screen as I read your poem. I have a lovely park here where I walk my two dogs. We don't have any snakes to worry about. Although, I freaked out once when a garter snake slithered off the path into the grass. I happened to catch the movement as my husband nearly stepped on it. Wouldn't have believed we had snakes around here except we saw a hawk flying high in the air with a snake dangling in it's claws.

My only beef with your poem is the overuse of the word, "did". It doesn't sound like a natural way to talk or tell a story. That's just my personal feeling.

I enjoy all dog walking adventure poems, Yours is well done :)

Hi Joy, I did enjoy your review and comments and have cut down the dids So appreciate your feedback. I think sometimes the words just come out and although sound Ok but to many used can be a distraction so it was nice have your suggestion. No not a fan of snakes and we get some big one around at times. i nearly stepped on one as a child so have always been a bit wary. With many thanks Cheers Christine😀

I love this poem Chrissy. I do not mind snakes but my hubby if terrified of them. Here in the southern part of Georgia we have the garter snake, looks like a rattler without the rattle. They are the good snakes and eat the little field mice and critters that tear up your garden. The coral snake is poisonous along with rattlers and water moccasins. They put up signs at our state parks, too, about the snakes in the woods. Your rhyme was smooth and the flow was so easy to read.

Hi Linda so you know how I feel re the snakes. They always look so sinister and I am scared of them bit fear for the dogs, as I am sure my beagle would just have a go. most od the snakes in Victoria are very poisionous I think there are non poisionous ones in Queensland either way If seen my heart would race. I'm with your husband on them LOL. thanks for having a read and for you review Cheers Christine

You've put a slant on a walk in the bush can be, fortunately unless one actually treads on.one, they tend to avoid you. But well done, Christine, this is a beaut write. With basically couplet rhyming, it flows sweetly, with really great descriptive imagery, perhaps you might have scared a few yanks from coming over. Well done, enjoyable work, well done, blessings, Roy

Hi Roy Thanks for stopping by and I certainly keep my eyes peeled in the bush . But there have been several people report seeing them along the path that walk and I know they usually wriggle away, but I'm a bit scared when I see them. I had fun writing this and glad you liked it. With Cheers to you Christine😃

I feel your fear...I hate snakes. Fortunately they are generally stupid animals. Otherwise them critters would rule the world.
I was always fortunate when I was in Australia, Port Macquarie didn't have much to fear.

Hello, Christine :)

I don't like snakes either, they are so creepy. At least, you were not alone, your boys were with you, they would probably kill the snake before it attacked you.
Nice rhyme and presentation. Good job!

Hi Gypsy . yes the dogs were with me but I am scared to let them roam around the edges of the path or bush socI keep them close to me. I think Buddy the Beagle would have a go at one and would probably get bitten. thanks again for your support and review Cheers and smiles Christine😃
