This is a poem I share with folks who mention grandchildren.
Across The Room
When you look across the room,
And see your grand children smile,
Why not stop everything,
Just to play with them a while?
For all too soon the years,
May take them to a distant place,
And many will be the days,
You'll long to see their face.
Don't let those precious years,
Slip by until they're grown,
To take some time to cherish them,
And make your love well known.
For as you strive to love them,
The way God wants you to,
You'll build such precious memories,
That they'll show their love to you.

Thank you Patrcia. Very nice.

I enjoyed your new creation--the Novetrain and your picture of your grandchildren--I take vicarious pleasure, since, as you might recall my son is a 39-year-old bachelor (he had a birthday in November!). Your rhymes and repeats intensified your theme of children being a "precious gift". Enjoy! -Joan

I thought that girl was grown up, Tom? ;)
What year was this taken? ;)
Lovely poem, and it's true... well, except that they are sweet ALL
the time, we both know that isn't true! LOL
But they are cute, I"ll give them that.
Thanks for sharing.
I've never heard of a novetrain, I like the interlocking feature and the
cool rhyme scheme.
Well done!

Thank you Cat, that was taken two years ago. She's 3 now. You probably never heard that one before because I just coined it a few hours ago.

Well I am glad you have written down the rhyme scheme because it means I don't have to. When I was reading it through for the first time (before reading the notes) I had a feeling of deja vue on the form. I thought it was a bit triolettish (if that word is allowable). I thought i a very appropriate form for the subject matter. Little kids love repetition so this works a treat.
Thanks for sharing, grandad.

I think I'm more aware of my grandchildren than my own girls when raising them, and appreciate them so much. And like you I appreciate their uniqueness, their individual gifts and abilities, I watch and and sympathise with their parent's struggles in raising them. My children have turned out better than I could have imagined, thanks to God's strategic help and His imparted wisdom, I loved this well moulded and articulate, sweetly timed delicacy, full of wisdom and appreciation and joy that children bring, they are our teachers. This was written in clever repetition and rhymed fascinatingly, well done, Blessings, Roy

Your grandkids are adorable. Kids are something special even if they can be trying at times. I love playing with my nephews but I am usually glad to give them back. Great job and enjoy them while you can :)
