A very well written free verse with an excellent presentation. I'm glad you decided to post this. It has much to ponder about. The world can be a very confusing place. Take care, my friend~Debbie

Lovely poem and great artwork. Thought the poem was a bit long and about mid way it gets a little distracting that's just me though, nothing personal.

Thank you so much. Think nothing of being distracted, you aren't alone. :))
The formatting takes some getting used to and those unfamiliar with it do find it a bit off putting at first with words jumping around and the like.
So pleased you took the time and got something out of it. I am wordy, but you should have seen me blathering on a year ago. Hahaha!
Happiest of New Years to you. mikey

This is marvelous work! You have are so incredible deliberate with your words choices and where you place your words. The metaphors in your work are really moving.

Beautiful and we'll written. You describe the complexity of love and life. Love the one word lines. Bringing those lines so much more important. Great flow and rhythm. Gretchen

    Hi, Gretchen
I'm so delighted you get everything and appreciate the method behind the madness as far as form goes. It's so great to hear as many are just put off by it I guess 'cause it's a little different. Thanks for all of your support this year. It means the world. Happy New Year, mikey

Hi! So pleased you enjoyed. I'm going to try and only post what I can follow through with as far as responding etc. I always end up over-posting and burying myself. :))
Hope you have lovely New Year. Blessings, mikey

Thank you Mike Cahill for your offering. You have a talent for this. Don't stop posting. You do sound a romantic, maybe broken hearted. This line "Venom forms in the empty well" was just great. As well the image "garrotes the tongue". Bravo. Keep going.

What an encouraging review. So pleased you enjoyed this. Yeah, a romantic, a few broken hearts, but still smiling. :))
I have a tendency to over post and find myself buried in responses etc which I truly have little time for. So, I'm just trying to stay at a level I can handle and be a good citizen here. Ha! I always fail, but I mean well. Thank you kindly, mikey

Souls do know, Michael - and they often know more than they say. We have to listen really hard to know what our souls are trying to tell us, because our minds and our hearts keep thinking too loudly.
Love is losing its meaning - that's for sure - and only poets such as yourself recognise that. Love is part of the soul - not something that can be reasoned with or held in a heart-beat.
A great reflective look deep into ourselves, Michael. Very prophetic and wise.
Rose.

Mikey,
i've been meaning to come back to this VERY six worthy poem... of course you know why I'm not spending a six on it... (I don't have one, most of all) and i'm moving forward, and I know you are.... but I had to tell you how this poem makes me feel...
it's absolutely breathtaking....
these are my favorite parts:

'.... hearts are healing places
and wounds in the most delicate places
heal slowly and scars impede
a smooth touch confused by resistance....'

(wow... I just love this)

...'words not even known to be careless
grip tightly to a meaning
unknown but to the rhythmic beat
suddenly interrupted....'

(no one says it like you do, Mikey)

you MUST know that by now? ;)

Love and laughter to you... keep them coming,
I'll keep brandishing them in 2016 with sixes...
you're so good at this.
Mwah

I think it's an image of Top Cat with a little sword that pops to mind when you say, "brandishing". Ha! Just an unattached image that invades my little brain. :))
Wow, I'm thrilled you enjoyed this and obviously understood it completely. That's all we can ask for, huh?
You are too kind. Hugs, mikey

Your poem about the soul has a lot of wisdom in it.

You have to be aware of things, the world around you, so your heart won't be broken.

Good luck with your poem.

I really don't know much about poetry. I can only rate poems based on how much I like a them. Some people can tell you if an iambic foot is soft or hard, or whether a foot might be a trochee, spondee, or an anapest. Heptameter? Tetrameter? I don't know. I can only say if I like it or not--I like it--and FS wants me to add more. OK.

Weren't you just awarded an honorable mention as a reviewer?
Thanks for the copy and paste review.
reply by Robert Louis Fox on 02-Jan-2016
I was! But I'm pretty sure it wasn't for poetry. Actually, I'm really sure about that. But I like poetry. Is honorable pretty good? FS gave me $5 too.

It was a paste review. I didn't copy it. And it was also honest. Keep up the good work.
