So sadly true, Marilyn... I thought your last stanza, especially thought provoking:

PC reigns, fearing fortitude to impose.
Peace is preferred, wrapped in ribbons and bows,
but Armageddon will bring it all to a close.
Can humanity be saved? Only God knows.

Very well told... one of the best of the ones about Paris.

Hi Marilyn - very well written poem in good mono-rhyme throughout. A very topical, up to the minute piece and your words are excellent. So true, everything you have written is pertinent and I enjoyed this intelligent piece of work. Warm regards Dorothy x

nice tribute piece for the terrorist attacks in Paris last week.... and done in mono rhyme. Strong and poignant quatrains with a powerful voice. Has a spiritual quality that tosses out the question of whether humanity can be saved. Well done

Marilyn, I so agree with this. Peace is something people say they want, but peace is only achieved by nations as a whole being strong with the bullies (terrorists) When there is a bully in the school yard the others have to deal with him. I learned that in elementary school 70 years ago,,. So many today just want to appease. Appeasement does not work, only force. Patricia

Thank you, Patricia, for your supportive review. You and I agree completely. A president's most important job is to protect his citizens. I applaud President Hollande for his actions to protect his country and his people. Marilyn

It does feel like they're frozen, but they are taking action outside of our news media's notice. You can't tell the world what your plans are without alerting the enemy. Let them underestimate you and they'll do something stupid.

I follow your position in your well written sonnet, Marilyn. Hold on. There will be progress. NATO is stronger than ISIS.

Hi Ellen. So nice to hear from you. I have taken a peak at your portfolio to see if there are any poems lately. Looking forward to reading more of them.

Obama stated at the G20 summit in Turkey that he does not intend to do anything different. He's getting much flak for it, even from the liberal press. President Hollande of France is trying to cobble together a coalition with NATO and Russia. Perhaps Obama will hop on board when President Hollande comes here next week to discuss our dire circumstances. Marilyn

He's bombing and has about 3000 troops in the fight as advisors. I don't thing anyone else has their country's men on the ground. It's not like Obama is doing nothing. Others need to commit to the fight. Not just USA. Its like a game of poker. He can't show his hand and has to bluff up the antey from the other players. I don't know why no one can see what he's doing.
He's already on board. He's trying to get others to come in too.

I doubt anyone will change anyone's mind. All we can do is express our frustration, endure, and pray we survive.

It is sad that these evil thinkers and doers have so much control to have the whole world begging for merci. Our only hope is God that knows what He will allow.

Thank you, Sandra, for your supportive review. We pray to God and he gives us the tools to help ourselves. So far, no one is using the tools he is sending. Marilyn

Hi Marilyn:

A very well posted poem and author's note that says it all in a nutshell.

I especially admire your wording of your stanza:

"None dare venture where the enemy goes.
Inertia paralyzes from head to toes.
No action is taken to thwart our foes,
while lack of direction, compounds or woes."

Talk about Peace being nicely wrapped in RIBBONS
AND BOWS.....WHAT A COWARDLY COP-OUT!

Thank you for sharing this timely piece, Marilyn.

Blessings and hugs,
Nan:))

Thank you, Nan. I appreciate your supportive review. The most important task a president has (of any nation) is to protect his citizens. President Hollande of France is such a man. We do not have that privilege here. Marilyn

    Conflicts, I guess.
I know so little about politics except what is right and what is wrong.

That's all you need to know, Nan. What's right and what's wrong. So many people don't, or don't care. :)

I do like poems that rhyme and carry a meter. This is also a poignant poem with lots of philosophy relevant to current events.

This is brilliant. It's inspirational and thought provoking.
Ending with the slimmest glimmer of hope. Every chosen word is perfect.

Thank you Marv. I appreciate your very fine review and rating of this important piece. We are in deep trouble. Too bad we don't have a leader like President Hollande of France. Marilyn

You are so right about the PC, Marilyn. We are sick to death of over here, too. My son believes the ideology of the Lefties blinds them from distinguishing what is right and wrong anymore. Excellent rhyming and message, good to highlight this, the world has definitely gone mad. Faye

Thank you, Faye, for your supportive review. Altruism is great, but down to the nitty-gritty it's each country's responsibility to make sure they keep their citizens safe. The longer this goes on the worse it will get. I applaud President Hollande for his quick and decision action. America does not have such a president. Marilyn
