I would say you sure got around in Texas, the Lone Star State. The key work is "Lone." This brought to mind, "The Last Word In Lonesome Is ME." Your post is very well written.

Traveling alone and thinking about a love is painful. I can imagine the crying, metaphorically. This a well crafted poem.

Hi Brett

I've enjoyed your lyrics and poignant love song. I love the title and it's exactly what you produce here ... covering a lot of territory I see. :)) What a fabulous image.

"Texas and teardrops and neon light
I lost your love on a Lone Star night" -- I like your refrain which creates a strong image of loneliness and loss.

I always enjoy free verse, so no worries about lack of rhyme for me. Well done. Hugs - Lovi xoxo

Brett this is a good lyrical piece. I find a rhyming scheme in every verse. Happy Thanksgiving and may your day be blessed. Patricia

Well done with these Lyrics Brett, they would have taken sometime to sing, but they're very good, they are articulate and smoothly rhythmic, they are written in rhyming couplets in quatrain form. They are the normal classic country lyrics, as I understand them, which may not be reliable. You've produced an excellent lyrica, poem, Brett, well done, blessings, Roy

Very beautiful poem/lyrics.

Anyway the freestyle works for this piece. I like the alliterations, and the emphases placed on the words themselves (Texas, teardrops, lost, love, lone), because it helps to maintain the rhythm of the poem.

Thanks for sharing!

After reading this, for some reason I need a beer. Well done and well written. It has a great flow to it and I love the chorus. Have a great day and God bless.

I nearly started singing along with this lovelorn tale of a woman who's cheated and left her man behind. It has a natural easy rhythm and the simplicity of message that makes the narrative so suited to the tale telling of this genre. Your lyrics are solidly supported by your repeated title line and the inclusion of well known geographic locations which gives structure to the story. A great little love song to drink along to. Very enjoyable, Brett.

I suspect I will have to dance a two-step while listening to this Texas song. Sounds like lonesome goes along with the Lone Star state. Texas and teardrops for sure.

Once again I feel so privileged to share the depth, colour, and passion of your lost love and song. Thanks so much Eric, for reviving these, and taking me back to 2002 with you. And, being totally reliant on inspiration, and its gift into place, passion and time, I never look for a specific rhyme; although thanks to FanStory enjoy many as blooms in the meadow of FanStory. I love the image and feeling of Texas that enhances mainly TV images for me. Blessings Brett, Maureen*&*
