rspoet: grandly written with a tinge of horror, yet, it wasn't scary or evil feeling. I kept admiring the hawk who stood watch over his master.

My favorite line is : ". . .and flees to hide in crevices of dark . . . ". Nice, original word combination.

Fabulous job! Livelylinda

Yes. animals can developed unmatched loyalty to their trainor or master. In fact animals are better friends sometimes compared to humans. They will stick to the masters through thick and thin and will never leave the master they have learned to love like this hawk. Thanks for sharing and excellent poem. God bless.

The message and picture are equally compelling. Thank you for the notes of explanation as well. I clicked on the title because of a wild scene I witnessed from my yard I think only yesterday. I heard a clamor from some crows in the woods behind my house. Several chased a large hawk from the trees. I was surprised that the magnificent bird didn't fight back, just soared away from the uproar.

This is very well written in terms of lines and verse, and so the words are really easy to follow and understand, and your descriptions stand out well. It's an interesting idea as well, and I like the way you have expressed this.

Hunting birds are noted for their skills and aerio dynamics in the skies. This is very well written with a strong flow of words, making for a very good read.

Blank verse was never a fave of mine, rspoet, but this is written SO well, I didn't miss the absence of rhymes I usually prefer in structured/metered verse.

Impeccable iambic meter throughout which is a rare treat on site.

Excellent ghostly atmosphere as the hawk mourns and protects the body of its departed master.

Top post!

Best wishes, Ray

Hi rspoet, this is a very well written poem. Good iambic pentameter throughout. Good blank verse, though I have not checked line ending for repetition, I did not want to as this would detract from my reading of this beautiful poem. Such in intriguing and original idea of a hawk's vigil. Lovely read. Warm regards Dorothy x ps Just noticed this is a multi-author book. Must look out for the others. Dx

A powerful poem in perfect Iambic pentameter. There is no break in the smooth and well crafted lines and reading this was a pure delight. I can see nothing to suggest except to keep writing these marvelous gems.

Hi there,

I am not expert in poetry of any form but I loved this. Simply loved it.

The image drawn is fantastic. I had an encounter with a wild raptor last week. It was sitting on a country road (no tags or binds) as I drive down and the thing stared me out and refused to move! It was beautiful. it eventually flew onto a gate and stared at me the whole way as I drove past. Awesome, but I digress!

I felt this poem.
