Your poetry always takes me to places I wishes I could get to see or take me on a journey to places like some of those I may have been to at some point.

The few times that I have been around canals/docks/ports, I have marveled at the seagulls as they went about the hunts for prey. I always marvel at the beauty and craftiness of birds and animals.

Excellent.

Thank you Nottoway. I am glad that I can take you there. Seagulls are amazing acrobats.

You definitely picked the right form to have that flock in a lock screech and cavort. With the repeating lines, they fly in and out of each stanza, exerting their chaos. I really enjoyed this poem. Thanks for sharing!

Hi, Treschel,
"Seagulls in the Lock" is another masterful rendition of a French medieval form.
The rhyme, meter, figurative language while good seem pedestrian when compared to the song about the river cruise. However overall it is an excellent poem. As far as I was able to discern the form was executed perfectly.
Your friend and colleague,
Preston

I have thought about taking a river cruise on the Mississippi--maybe, I shouldn't worry about only going in the fall. You captured the seagulls' "antics" vividly and your rhymes, rhythm and repeats added to the intensity. Cheers- Joan

Thank you Joan. I love to do it from St. Paul to New Orleans. That paddle boat, The Delta Queen, was stopping over at Red Wing, Mn. As we cruised by.

I don't know how you can saw you EVER enjoy puzzles, because that seems very much like an INDOOR activity - and you have shown over and over again - at least to THIS reader - that you are ALWAYS outside with that trusty camera!! *smile*

I'm usually (almost as) impressed as much with the pix as I am with the poetry! Not QUITE - but the places and things you're seeing on a regular basis makes me SOOOO jealous!

hahahaha -- another good one!

A well written poem that seems to be done effortlessly. The seagulls fighting for a piece of place where they can hunt on their prey. An excellent photograph as well.

I enjoyed your poem. You did a great job with a difficult format. Thanks, too, for the extensive author notes. The picture is awesome and you expressed your feelings about it well.

Good job. I see no changes. Thanks for sharing.

A very pleasant piece of observation on natural phenomena, they are the most acrobatic flyers the gulls. I love the way they stall in mid air and then sideslip down to the surface of the water. Out rees are on the turn here and the full glory of the colours has yet to appear.

Thank you Pantygynt. We have spots that are spectacular, but most are not this year.
