What a fantastic poem! Nice picture of your family as well. How true it is that we seem to gloss over our pasts upon recalling them. Your past is what makes you today. Great job! Good luck on the contest! Happy writing!

Powerful words and so true. Why is it we wish for the days gone bye. The youth of yesterday without the pains. Spoke truth, flowed well. Good luck.

Your family photo reminds me a bit of myself (I was big brother, too), and lots of two of my sisters at that age, 'M' (accessed from your portfolio).

We didn't have a TV either, and our family car was a real 'old banger'. We also used 'to play outside' in relative safety.

Lots of excellent examples of the past, and your 'rose-tinted glasses' and final conclusion is spot on.

Good luck and best wishes, Ray xx

I think this is a beautifully penned poem. Oh, how I remember those good days; we could play outside all day without a worry, we kept our doors unlocked, no computer, no TV, just good living. Your poem brought back so many good memories. Excellent rhyming and meter, very smooth flow and a mostenjoyable read.. After reading all the entries, this should be the winner and it has my vote. Blessings....................Portia

I like nostalgia and your poem hits the spot. You have done a good job of describing the past and it really is a shame how much has changed through time. I have a suggestion though. I noticed that you have used punctuation through your poem except for the last few lines. It reads quite well without punctuation. I was cautioned when I first came to the site to either use it through the whole writing or not at all. I wish you luck on your great entry and great job.

Thank you so much Annie for pointing out about the punctuation, and also a lovely review.

There will never ever be anything that even comes remotely close to the "good old days" of the innocence of youth, and times gone by. This well written poem descriptively depicts this theme and should be a good contest entry.

Many people live so much in the past, they can't enjoy the present.
Like you say, the good old days are past. Not coming back. On with reality.
Well done
All the best in the contest. :)

Awww...what a cute photograph of the author and her siblings. I wonder how many years ago was this taken?
Ah yes, I know those good old days! No tv, no electricity, no cars, and we played lots of outdoor games :) I really enjoyed reading this piece which brought some lovely and fond memories of my childhood years as well.
Best wishes in the contest:)
Blessings,
Anabella
