Hi, Treischel,
Your are the craftsman and this a superb example of your craft. My only thought is that it would be neat to for this to be linked to rutting season and why does are not fair game in most jurisdictions.
Your friend and colleague,
Preston

We feed the deer here on our acreage, and the neighborhood is gated around this part of the lake... It's beautiful and we will have half a dozen deer daily come by... But I have a dear (no pun intended) friend near Canyon Lake, Texas, who is a professional photographer... and he feeds about 30-50 nightly... i've gone to see them often... he also photographs the Painted Bunting and all the other birds which come around... not to mention the foxes, the squirrels, and even a mama opossum with a load of babies on her back. LOL
I can hear the armadillo and we've seen the foxes here as well... mostly rabbits and turtles, roadrunners, and all the little natives creatures along with the deer, of course. ;)
Beautifully done...
I enjoyed it...
I have a few friends still left in Alaska where we used to live and they will post the Moose and bear that walk through the neighborhood all the time. LOL (on FB) I remember those times well.
;)
Another well written, and fun poem Tom

I just love wild-life and nature, so, naturally, I enjoyed your Double Refrain Kyrielle - it has great rhythm and rhyme to it.
and it's a lovely picture - taken on my birthday, so I consider this a special treat - thank you, my friend.

Thank you Margaret, and belated happy birthday.

This seems to be a perfectly executed double Kyrielle Tom. Nice picture. I just hate the thought of killing wildlife for sport. It is different if they hunt to supplement the winters meat supply for the family. Good job here. Nancy

Thank you Nancy. I think most Deer hunters do it for both the sport and the meat. But your point is well taken.

Many people come here to hunt looking for a trophie deer. That is so wrong.

I enjoyed this wonderful write immensely! Nicely crafted and these are the lines that stood out for me:-
A buck decides to take a chance,
As hunting season comes around,
To taste the fruit of circumstance,
When apples fall upon the ground.
Thank you for sharing your apples :)
Bless you
John

I am happy for this deer because he can find food and doesn't have to know the sound of a gun or fear of man. I have deer in my yard sometimes too during fall because the like to eat the crabapples that fall to the ground from our flowering crab apple trees. These deer don't have to worry about hunters either because they live on the government protected wild animal preserve and wetland surrounding my block.

Once, on the first day of hunting season, I spied three deer in the middle of a federal highway, surrounded by hunters. A Hiway patrolman made the hunter move on. The deer left soon afterward, in the opposite direction. This is very well written.

Beautifully crafted, Tom. I didn't expect to like this one much with the double repeat, but you have woven it into the narrative seamlessly. Congratulations.

Thank you Tony. It definitely was a challenge.

Beautifully done and brings back memories of my Brother's home as the deer would cross his back yard and even attempt to make friends with the cat ;)
