I'm a real sucker for happy endings, especially, when there doesn't look to be any way of having one until the last lines. Great story, and good luck. :-)

A fire started by glass shards? Really? I didn't even know that was possible. Well, I trudged on, and your details were great, and I liked the way you personified the fire.

Oh,yes. Many bushfires are started by glass. The glass acts as a magnifier when the sun hits it, starts a small fire with dead leaves. Australia is known for this. Thanks so much for reading.

I miss you too! This was fiction and I found it hard to write because of the contest rules. The story had to be shaved down to bare bones. I did try. Thanks for reading mate! I did send you a message in your portfolio? Luv, K.

This is a wonderful short story that reads like a movie. I am happy the family dog survived and I like the twist at the end, the father decides to live with his family on a riverboat, sounds great! Excellent story that includes the Aborigines and their wisdom. I wish you well in the contest.

Thanks so much for reading. Glad you enjoyed. It was hard to clip it, I like to be descriptive. The contest called for bare bones! Blessings, Kay XX

My good friend, this story is wonderful. It immediately brings on the fire, which frightens the man so much. It shows his fears yet he braves the danger to save his children. And then it has a wonderful ending with the house saved and even the dog comers home. This was a thrilling and exciting story and I really enjoyed reading it. Best wishes, my good friend.

Always with respect,

Well written story depicting the many hazards of wildfires. They can be challenging in many ways. Should also be a good contest entry.

Beautifully done, Kaye. I took every word in and was absorbed by the entire scenario. Isn't it interesting what it takes for us to understand what is truly valuable. The riverboat represented so much.

This is a fascinating story, Kay. I am so glad that the family did not burn to death as their poor mother had. You build the tension very well in this excellent contest entry. This should do very well in the contest. Good luck!

Kay! What a great story! You should promote it. It had me rivited and I was so afraid for them and the little dog and sheep. Then a happy ending. If I had a six it would be yours. Good job my friend. Nancy*****+
