Great poem. I found this to be a fun and engaging poem. I love kangaroos and would kill to go to Australia for personal reasons. You Aussies have some cool words and terms. Good luck.

What a challenge to use every letter of the alphabet to begin each line--while maintaining a story or theme. This poem meets the form criteria--and then stands out for the creative story-telling of a "roo" -- well done,

This is a very nice token and information to those Australian kangaroos. For sure they seem enchanting... and loud. My fave "Rests in the shade/Shy by nature/Tail to balance ..."

Thanks Amanda for you time to read this and for your review and nice comments yes the Kangaroo is interesting and we see a lot in the bush-lands all over Australia. In some areas they can be a pest too and some farmers are not so keen to have them around .Cheers

This sounds perfectly fine for the contest. You have the whole alphabet covered and the reader learns a little about the kangaroo.
I didn't know they were good to eat.

Best of luck in the contest.

Thank you barkingdog for your time to read this A to Z and for your review much appreciated. And yes Kangaroo is quite delicious. It is sold in our supermarkets also. Quite a dark meat but very lean and low fat. I often have it in a restaurant too. Thanks again for your comments Cheers

Is it like beef, lamb etc. How do you season it?
reply by the author on 08-Sep-2015
Hi , kangaroo fillets is best when it is cooked quickly but not for long just for a few minutes in a fry pan ( it gets tough quickly if cooked too long.) Then served with a seasoned gravy. It can be seasoned before cooking. The taste is a bit like 'beef' but more like venison ( deer) it has become popular over the past few years. Cheers Christine

Thank you. I guess it is seasoned like deer meat. We only have deer during hunting season and then only if we know a hunter. It's not found in local stores. It's nice that you can find roo in yours.

We also have venison in our supermarkets too I enjoy that too when well cooked Cheers

Maybe, I better move to Australia. All we have is beef, lamb, chicken, pork. And of course lots of seafood.
I think out west they have buffalo.

Yes there are quite a lot of different meats to try even crocodile and camel. Maybe we are a bit wired and will eat almost anything lol. Do come out one day

Oh, some eat alligator here in FL. It's done on the sly. They are supposed to be really good.
    No camel. lol

Very well done. Roos are such unique animals and a joy to watch. Have to watch their boxing skills though, they can hurt you badly with them. The little buggers. Should also be a real good contest entry.

this is an excellent write, mystery writer, great information on the kangaroo, I am glad for the author notes as I didn't know what quantas was, lol. I should as I work at a hotel near an international airport. I had camel bites, which was chewy but I didn't taste the kangaroo. I wish you the best of luck in the contest
