OMG you too eh? It seems that 8 out of 10 last postings of mine have been on the same plane as this one. You say it so well in the last verse it brought on a lump in my throat. Setting another free from your heart is just as bad as setting yourself free from them being in your heart. Obviously the trick is to have another to be with, it eases the loneliness out of the picture. But it doesn't always happen to one of the parties.

This was a real Awwww poem. I felt sorry for the guy because he was so sad, until he said he played around so many times. That dampened the pity into a well-what-do-you-expect shake of the head.

Excellent scenario relating an all too often outcome of a relationship that also includes others besides a married couple. Singles in a serious relationship can also experience the same. Having lived this, but not on the side off indiscretions, I can attest that this is a very accurate description. The lines "Every day that passes by, you mean more than I can say, I had you here close to me, But that was yesterday. Go on leave me here alone, you do it all the time, I can't believe you went away and left my love behind." meant the most to me. Well done.

Well written with a very consistent meter and a heavily inclined and pointed theme that follows somewhat the norm, it is, more an abcb rhyme theme, not particularly free verse although more free than regular rhyming, but as a songwriter, rhyming poem work quite well, nicely written, Brett, great language, well done, .blessings, Roy.
