What a fantastic poem. Not yet read 1st and 2nd placegetters, but they must have been good to beat this entry.

Generally don't like free verse. Maybe this one has changed my mind

I thank you so much, bob. I think free verse takes some getting use to due to its very nature. I didn't know what I was doing when I first started out but kept trying. It comes quite naturally now.

I wish I had a six to give you for this one. Absolutely marvelous. I have to agree, it is the tiny things that stick with us. I too, love the song Blackbird. Great work with this one and I wish you all the best in the Poem of the Month contest.

Thank you so much. I always thought of 'Blackbird' being a simple song with enormous depth.

Congratulations on being selected for the poem of the month contest! Your talent stands out.

I enjoy your theme here. I have re-read your words several times to be sure I understand your message. I think little thoughts are just like the little things. Yes, it's the little thoughts that mean so much more.

While reading this, I can picture you wandering on the dewy grass in bare feet. You put so much personality in your writing. I feel like I know you, yet there's so much more to you than you're sharing. I'm always interested to see what you allow us to see each day.

Best of luck in the voting booth. You are much deserving to be among the top notch site poets :)

I thank you, Joy. I just put down what comes to me. I don't think it's talent. I find it to be more being able to put down what is in your hear and mind onto paper. It is probably an easily practiced ability :)

I really enjoyed your poem. If I'm not mistaken, and I may be, Black Bird was released after John Lennon died and is considered the last Beatles song released. They dubbed in on a John Lennon recording

I found this beautiful. It made me think of my fiance and it warmed my heart. Very well written. Easy to read as it flows well.

Well done!

Lovely thoughts put together. The little thoughts last longer than the most. All good things are the one you love, always remember the good qualities, forget the little faults the other may have. No one of us are perfect after all

Hi Artemis. A special tribute to someone special in your life. Yes, the little things are the ones that impact us the most, the littlest of pebbles causing so many ripples. I liked your use of the first raindrop upon the hand and land. Interesting thought. Cheers.

I love that song too, artemis53, and agree that it's the simple things that often give us joy.

You explored this ideal so well in your poem. This was such a pleasure to read. My favorite line: you are that first raindrop.

A charming poem that doesn't shout its message from the rooftops, but gently whispers its message of hope and lasting love. beautifully written.
