Many thanks for your review and apologies for taking so long to get back to you, Nicole. I had hardly any internet during my last few days in France, and I've been working flat out since I got back! Alexis xxx

G'day Alexis. I hope all is going well for you over there mate. I'm back in Australia, sadly. So we are in the seedy world of the gamblers, it's a tough gig my friend. I have some catching up to do I think on this one, I'll get there. Very well written. Cheers Fez

We've both got some catching up to do, Fez, because I haven't had a moment to spare since I got back from France on Sunday night! Alexis xxx

The plot of this story looks Intetesting. There seems to be some suspicion aboutt this poker game.
I don't know anything about poker and I don't really like gambling, but this is
intrigueing so far.

Here's wishing Michael all the best, you must have sunk some research into this Alexis, is the game legit or not, good episode, my friend, blessings, Roy.

You and I both got back on Sunday, and, as you can see, I'm still catching up! I started writing this because a pal, who made a fortune playing poker all over the world keeps asking me to write his story. So far, the good looks, ex-wife, the yacht and his poker playing are the only things I've used! Alexis xxx

For those of us who are always willing to play a few hands with just about anyone, there are more traps set for suckers than in all the wilderness of Alaska. Thanks for another great chapter. :-)

Many thanks for your review, Ric. It will be a few days before I get the time to post the next chapter, but I hope it will be worth the wait! Alexis xxx

Oh dear.... warning bells, telling glances, methinks someone is about to be in a boatload of trouble!!! I'm not a gambler, just READING about it makes me queasy!!!

But I wish Michael well. Why do I think my wishes aren't going to help much??

I'm still undecided as to what will happen next, but ideas are beginning to form in this old head! I go back on Sunday, so at least I'll have proper internet again! As always, the six has made my day. Thank you! Alexis xxx

This is a good read Alexis, as always. It is very well written and I am beginning to wonder whether this Michael is bad news and maybe Alisha as well. Not so sure about how to categorize her yet. Looking forward to reading on. Ulla xxx
Ps. Are you still in France?

That makes two of us, Ulla! I'm thinking on my feet with this one. Yes, I'm still in France with intermittent internet connection because I'm using a dongle, but I'm back to 'civilisation' on Sunday. Now the weather has broken I don't mind! Alexis xxx

Oh, I recognise that. I am doing excacly the same with The Misjudgement. I started the whole thing with a contest entry but it's a challenge. I don't know where it's going at all. You are doing a very good job though, and I am looking forward to read on. Ullaxxx

I like the characters- particularly Anthony - and the conversation flows so naturally - but then you never disappoint, Alexis.

A couple of things you might want to take a look at:

'Of course... Are you going too, Alisha?(') Anthony asked.

The stakes were never high enough for serious players under those kind of circumstances[,](;) well at least not as far as he was concerned. - semi-colon

'You're sure it's a legitimate game?(') he asked.

All great suggestions, Margaret, all of which are now corrected thanks to your eagle eye. This is going to be a short one compared to the others, but it's been a great distraction after cutting the grass! Alexis xxx

I know almost nothing about poker, and gambling in general. Nor are stories describing high society manners and their associated chit-chat really my bag. So far, there has been quite a bit of this, but, knowing you, I suspect we will be getting some action soon.

The foregoing is, of course, not a criticism of your writing, Alexis; just a description of my peculiar prejudices.

I seriously want to suggest that you put a total ban on 'Truth be known' in your writing. It is, certainly for you, a cliche, and actually, it is also one in general terms. However, feel free to tell me to bugger off. (!!)

'Anthony held the bottle over Michael's glass [in the same way as he'd done with Alisha]' (The bracketed section really isn't needed).

With best wishes,
Adrian

All great suggestions, Adrian. I used to know a few of these guys when I lived in the Isle of Man, and although many of them were pretty boring (the wives especially) some of the millionaires were really interesting. It's a world I happily left behind, but it left me with some great material! I will be starting 'Between The Books' after this short one (about 10,000 words) so that I can reminisce a bit. I think you might enjoy some of the boarding school bits! Alexis xxx

Alisha and Michael have got themselves accommodation on board Anthony's yacht, but something does not smell right,
Anthony is wary, as his friends behaviour seems a little strange. Perhaps the pair are going to set him up for something.
This looks to be an intriguing story, Alexis.
cheers
Annette

This is the 'calm' before the storm! Part Two tells us that Anthony's yacht can stay at sea for months at end... Alexis xxx
