Aww,
I missed out reading through this contest's entries when they were fresh.
The pattern beat of this limerick was right on. (In my head, all limericks are read in the voice of Bill Curtis from NPR (Michigan/ public radio... I know, I figure you have no idea who that guy is)... because he does the reading of news in Limerick form and it's one of my favorite segments... the news, in limerick form.

I thought the play on reception and service in line with the irony of a tv repairman having to deal with a late bride was very cute. There were multiple facets of both pun and parallels. Very fun. Maybe it should have been the cable repairman? Either way, I thought of cable guy because those guys are never on time.

You're right, I have never heard of Bill Curtis before; but I'm sure hearing the news in limerick form would be hilarious. Thanks, Turtle, for your perceptive review. Much appreciated, Craig.

Ha, Craig this is a super limerick, written to perfect form including the theme presented. Too many people have just way too much fun at the reception but then that's what it's all about, right? At least for the guests.

Exceptional poetry my friend,

Gloria

Thanks for the kind review Gloria. Just a piece of silly nonsense, but I had fun with it :) Craig.

This meets the contest requirements nicely. Quite inventive to deliver the word play in true Limerick fashion - well done. I wish you all the best in the voting and thank you very much for sharing it.

This work has reached the exceptional level

You've far exceeded the requirements for this contest and though I notice you have not gotten first place, you should. By far the funniest, best written, and most skillful of the lot. Thank you for sharing your writing.

Probably the best entry I have seen for this contest - it seems many do not really know what a pun is!

Your limerick structure is good. The joke is perhaps not totally original, but you have done an excellent job of fitting it around this form.

Good luck.

Steve

Thanks, Steve, for your kind review. I've heard it before as a one-liner: "The wedding was lousy, but the reception was great". I hope putting it into poem form is acceptable, I've never seen it that way.

    Appreciate your good wishes.

I like the pun or play on words-I guess one of those weddings which flopped, but the reception was great! I liked the limerick style, good use of humour and rhyming. Good luck in the contest. Faye
