Interesting poetic form, and very interesting stone to find on a golf course. I guess people will stop and read it as it is rather distinctive. Well chosen words and great picture. Faye

Thank you Faye. Yes they likely will.

I think you should lighten the purple colour as it makes reading your wonderful poem difficult. This poem is all about contrasts---purple leaves and gray boulder within the vast expanse of closely cut green grass. The yellow flowers add a nice touch of softness to the scene you created. Well done, Tom.

Thank you rod. It is all about the adornments, rather than the stone.

On first read you really threw me. Benches on the range, flowers and the stone- I thought this might be Dean's golf course- a gravestone at par 3. Blame it on my phone. I can't enlarge the image enough to read the inscription. Interesting sestina sonnet.

Thank you ravenblack. Hehe, love the point about Dean's golf course. I was disappointed that you can't read it, because my photo shows it clearly, but the site distorts it, even in large.

It really is a pretty rock, I like the way it has been decorated with some very colourful foliage around it. I am not sure I would like to be sitting on one of those benches with some of the people I see on the driving range. Their balls go everywhere but straight down the middle! Lovely poem, again, Tom. :) Sandra

Since you give no credit to the inventor of this highly devious stuff I have a sneeking suspicion that you dreamt this one up yourself. It's great fun. I can't keep up with you at the moment I have other calls on my time. Still only until November and then I can retire properly. Seriously though this is a very clever take on the sestina an sonnet forms.

Thank you Pantygynt, but no i forms discussions of the format in both The Poet's Garrett, and Poetry Soup, but neither referenced the person who created it.
Comment from Sandra du Plessis
Beautiful sonnet as well as an interesting form. Interesting background as well. A very plain photo of a stone which I will probably stumble over and you make it a foundation of a poem. Very well done.
