Wow, this is a well crafted letter, loaded with innuendoes and irony to entice Judas to fall into his trap and not surprisingly he did. LOL.

A very enjoyable read.
My take:
"So dear Judas, our friend, we believe you have hitched your wagon to a star...but alas, to a shooting star, which will soon burn out. We are concerned too, with the growing animosity of the religious leaders against this upstart. These are NOT men with which to trifle! A man who won't take our advice in these matters of public relations in these unsettled times is in trouble...very serious trouble. Be warned, friend of ours. This incendiary leader of yours could easily find himself getting crucified."

Your notes tell it like it is and support the "Cast your vote for Jesus. Keep your eyes on Calvary" theme very nicely. Your well written letter precisely depicts the world's lack of being able to understand the simplicity of His message due to their inability to believe the Gospel truth and trying to impose their way of thinking into the situation. Well done.

Thank you....I think I would change "inability to believe" to refusal to believe the Gospel, however.

Hi Denis,

This was a great piece of writing.
Very convincing too. This was humorous and ridiculous but also the reader can easily see the truth you are showing within it.

Super piece.

What a great piece of satire. Makes me think of Swift's Modest Proposal. You can get more converts with this than with preaching, I expect. Love the name and address of the agency, the reference to Nicodemus, reference to the company He keeps.
Yet was it really necessary to tamper with such a "feel-good" moment by threatening child molesters with eternal punishment?? - great line. Goes for the jugular.

Clever signature too. I'm betting some people will think you are serious!

"I'm betting some people will think you are serious!" Not too bad at satire yourself. :) Thanks for reading and commenting not to mention a sixer from the Queen of FS, the Lois Lane of the Daily Planet of my heart, the ....I'll stop there....I'm sure you get it.

I absolutely love this letter. It is a wonderful tongue-in-cheek prose using an imaginary letter to the betrayer of Christ. Putting the story in modern language makes it more "real" to us of today! Great job,
Rhonda

This is a fine satire and well written . In the reference to Nicodemus, I might have encluded that Jesus saying he must share his wealth was a big part of his walking away since greed is so rampant in present day, but many subliminal messaging is in the teachings of Christ. This advisory letter to judas reminds us to seek truth in our souls and heart not others opinion.

Thank you but I think you have two stories mixed up. Christ never told Nicodemus to give up anything. And I believe we find God's truth in God's word. The heart of the unsaved man is evil in God's sight and nothing good can come from it. Being "born-again" gives us a new heart like Christ's. Thanks for reading! Dennis

Yes, my reference was to the rich young ruler. The message still appropriate for the modern greedy world.

Dig deep and you may conclude that both Jesus and his cousin John lost their lives because they were of the house of David, heirs to the throne of Israel, as Pilate had written on the cross...the Caesars detested competition...this is witty and well written. Excellent post.

Jesus gave His life, otherwise it was not a sacrifice ordained by God. Jesus told Peter on the way to judgment He could call 10,000 angels and be delivered....but how (He asked) would the scriptures be fulfilled? Christ died to pay the debt of all sinners exactly as all the scriptures teach. Thanks for reading and reviewing!

Dennis, creative approach to those who may have had a part in the betrayal. Judas was looking out for himself on several occasions as I recall. You are so right...the carnal mind can't understand the words and take them to heart.

I particularly am drawn to the paragraph where Jesus disciples are described. That is just the way the world would see us as we go about witnessing or trying and then fail in some way...that's what the world loves to see; our failures.

I just reread this piece and noticed the awesome sarcastic remark about child molesters. Again, that is a fair estimate of the way the world looks at things. They think Christians overdo it.

Great Writing!
