Isn't it a Middle Class world all over. I feel so insecure, behind the vast world of appearances . It's like slipping along shifting sands with a mufti-story building sagging over us, warning us that no one is safe without solid moral values. We can't even trust the elbow that bumps you in the crowd. It's as simple as that. -'' Oh High Joe; I was just thinking about you." -Ekim777

So that was why Judas betrayed Christ; he was acting on thee advice of a promotional consultant. The poor man has been vilified ever since for being a traitor, for his avarice, his name used as a personification of treachery, when his only crime in reality was to put his faith in a promotional consultant.

That just shows how we must believe what the good book says - "Thou shalt have none other gods but me" Please accept my apologies for quoting from the no unfashionable King James version but that was the one I was brought up on and the poetry is way better than version published since.

I must apologise for talking about poetry on the prose section of the site, but I am in reality just a poor poet taking a break here. Honestly, I'm just testing the water here with my toe, not trying to walk on it.

The "poor man"? Judas? Really? Sometimes people get tagged villain who really are. With all the advantages he had in following Jesus, the Bible clearly says Jesus knew Judas never believed in Him. All the sermons, all the healings, even the raising of dead people...Judas ignored it all and sold the Lord for the price of a slave. His name has ever since been deservedly synonymous with traitor. You can read about this in your King James Bible for sure. Thanks for reading and comment, Dennis

A very interesting read. I really enjoyed the letter format. There's just something so different about it, making it easy on the brain. Good work here.

This is a very creative extrapolation of Gospel stories and events into a creative format. By writing to Judas, ultimate betrayer of Jesus, and rescinding services as PR consultants, they offer the kind of shallow advice to Judas as is at work in society at large today. 'Image is everything', indeed. It's also nothing and the shooting star with the non-specific agenda (one understood only by fools)went on to change the world. Yes, very clever, faith based, and an excellent example of how the word of God can be presented in ways that shake up thought. Also, this is very well written.

Hello Deniz,

I found your story, Smart Religion?, confusing.

I understand is a corporation, probably representing non-believers in our world. The letter is addressed to Judas, the disciple who betrayed Jesus.

Well, for starters, it wasn't our world really but it did transport the "spin doctors" back to the time of Christ. Familiarity with the Bible helps...I don't mean that as a put down, I simply don't know your background. I'm willing to explain more but you have to give me more than what you have so far. Best to you, Dennis

Read this and reread this. I thought the choice of the name of the responding company "Banal...." was a little too much... What the author implied by using banal was that anyone not believing as the author might believe was empty headed and any argument one might offer as a non Christian to the contrary, was banal and of no consequence.
I do think the is pretty well written and as such I will give it a four star rating; could stand some tweaking, reference the second paragraph. I am supposed to review the writing and the skill of the writer not the theology; I think this needs some more work.

Amazing. That's all I can say. Absolutely amazing. I love these parodies with a moral to them.
You did a wonderful job of referencing biblical events from the standpoint of your fictional advisers. I love how you twisted everything into the viewpoint of the Pharisee's, thereby making fun of their ludicrous viewpoints.
Your last paragraph was a hilarious thing of beauty.
A wonderful, funny post.

Please forgive me, but I am still smiling at this letter. It brings to surface something to consider. I was thinking about the one leopard man out of ten who turned back and thanked the Lord. Wonder what they thought about that?

Love this tongue in cheek commentary on Jesus' life and the disciples he hung around with. Really, this sounds very much like how Judas must have felt and thought.
The irony of this sentence is not lost on the reader. "You have your whole life ahead of you." Judas chose to take that life for granted and did away with it through suicide.
The signature is so perfect "I Be Sowise".
Loved it.
