I really enjoyed this Pantoum, Tom. You are very creative when searching for poetry formats! The repetitious lines are fun, especially when read aloud.
I particularly like the shadows that are long and skinny! LOL
Nicely penned!

An excellent instructional session on the pantoum form in your notes accompanying the excellent example of the poem itself. The whole presentation of this post raises you from simply a master of formic poetry to a great teacher of the various styles. Here's a suggestion: Write an FS "book" on poetic forms and how to go about achieving them. Each "chapter" would be a different form with an example poem and notes on how to achieve it. Such a work would inmy opinion not be an entertaining series of posts but, in the final analysis, would serve as an excellent reference work for budding poets.

Thank you Pantygynt. I have exactly that in mind. It will contain about 150 formats, and 2 to five poems as examples. I also pland to create a spreadsheet, listing their key attributes. I appreciate the suggestion. I thought this form and the Triolet are good forms to do here for new poets, because of their ease of assembly.

Pleased to meet your wife--from afar! And thank you for the Pantoum tutorial--I wrote one for FS a few years ago. I'll keep your notes when I am inspired again. I enjoyed your "funny friend," rhymes and repeats. Here's to more "sunny days"! -Joan

Another interesting form of poem. This time I first look if I can find the pattern before reading your notes. Thank you.

Excellent Pantoum poem! The topic of your shadow is so fitting for this piece, as the repeating lines symbolize the repeating appearance of your shadow. I like how you describe your shadow as a "funny friend"...so relatable. I remember laughing with my childhood friends about how silly our shadows looked. Very well crafted; I really enjoyed it!
