-Great photo.
-I love eagles and follow a pair on Alcoa's Davenport, Iowa cam. They are a very devoted pair, and it is hard not to admire their beauty and grace.
-Your poem is definitely humorous.

Don't you just love the eagles? We have seen a few nesting eagles where we live. Their nests are the size of condos. Indeed it looks massive and intimidating. I never thought of it as uncomfortable! As usual, love your photos that accompany your poetry. Good job, Tom.

This poem reminds me of times when I sit on my chair writing. My ass gets sore but maybe like the eagle on her nest, I am sitting on little treasures of writing that'll hatch soon into either gems or just plain stones. Well done, Tom.

The rules made my head swim, but the content ... love it!
The stick would do that, right?
I'm fascinated by eagles. I've done a lot of research on them. They are incredible birds.
Cute and clever!

LOL! Tom, that is so funny. I can only assume they have toughened bottoms!! Amazing photo of the eagle and her young, you must have a good camera to get that close a shot. A pleasure to read and admire. :) Sandra

That's how I felt about the storks up in the stories-high nests in Portugal! Thank you for introducing me to the "Hailezaine"--I must have missed the contest in 2014. I enjoyed your fun and mono-verse rhyme and amazing picture of mother eagle and her chick. Smiles- Joan

I love taking photos of eagles... when I lived in Alaska, I took some nice ones.. but nicer ones when I went back about 15 years later... (mostly because my skills had improved and so had my equipment) lol
They have some amazing shots to get down on the Homer Spit in Southern Alaska...
Anyway... back to the poetry, which is why we are here, eh? lol
(seems we share TWO passions) :)
The person who will not smile at the mention of the word "rump" will never be a friend to me. :)
I smiled right away when I read it... and on a stick? really?
Do you ever watch Jeff Dunham with his character, "Jose Jalepeno on a Stick"? lol
(he looks quite uncomfortable sitting on a stick as well) lol
This is an interesting format... I enjoyed the poem.
Well done,
Cat

They probably line the inside of the nest with all kinds of luxurious stuff. Might even have a waterbed in there for all we know. Neat little verse foerm though and it relies onb a good punch line to set it off, like you have given it.

I agree, it must be uncomfortable sitting on those sticks. Love this poem about mother eagle and her world. Chick, quick and stick are excellent rhyming words that create a clear picture and make this a fun poem to read out loud.
