This actually a love poem for a sister that is not close to you.. You miss her but as they say if you love someone let her/ him go if they love they will come back to you. If she reads this poem she will probably responds to you, just give her time. It is well written with some good rhyme . The picture used mirrors your poem.

    Thank you!

She was my best friend, but although we are on the edge of each others lives, we may never speak again.

You are welcome, cbat . Something dramatic happened for you to feel this way. In your poem you seem to miss her. I hope you too can make amends . meggie .:))

We were married to the same man.
    You are very astute.

Hello cbat, thanks for getting back to me. I figured it had to be something out of the ordinary which separated your sister and you .This I did not expect, it must be very hard to share your husband with your sister or any one else. I think you are the older sister. Kudos to you. meggie

You are right, I share the blame for her pain.
She is free of abuse now and I believe happy.
reply by meggie13 on 06-Jul-2015
That's what counts ,her happiness but were you happy that you had to give up your husband?
reply by the author on 06-Jul-2015
Yes, I forced him to divorce. I was stupid and let him pick my lawyer though.

You were right to divorce him. Now you know better than share your love for someone. I think he picked a lawyer that would be on his side. You are a better person because of it. Blessings! meggie :))

Initially, when I read this I was under the impression you had lost your sister in this life and you were reaching out to her in the next, but when I read it the second time I was more inclined that you were just separated for now, and that you have not spoken in a while. I suppose it could be either. When you describe escape from pain and the 'lofty castle', it brings to mind visions of afterlife to me. Very nice poem and dedication to one you love!

Actually I had three sisters that died, and a few still struggling, so it was for both.
    thank you!

This reads like a story about a sister who has passed away. The last stanza left me scratching my head ...
till you find the door
If she is in Heaven, would she wish to escape? Unless it means something else.
One typo:
your often seen
Suggest:
you're often seen (you are, or: you're, NOT: your)

I am sorry for the confusion, this sister is married to my x husband. we were together while our children were born.
I left her with him, they seem to finally be happy.
We live near each other and some of the children see both of us. She wants to pretend I did not exist,
She suffered more while we were trying to live polygamy than I.
we struggled for over 20 years before all realizing it was wrong.

You have done a very nice job of expressing your feelings towards your sister. I see concern and hope for this person although there is an undertone that she did not fulfill her part in your relationship. In spite of their weaknesses though, sisters are special.
Take care,
Rhonda

Actually, it was I whom did not fulfill my part.
    I left her twice.

This poem shows the side of you letting go but still holding on to her. You can't help it, the feelings of being a sibling will always draw you in. Even in turmoil the feeling are there. I enjoyed your poem, and yes letting go is hard but in the long run its true love, it's the unselfish love that lets others grow and find their own way. Very good poem, you words were tender and able to help your readers feel the sense of letting her go. May I suggest that you find a picture to compliment your words. Perhaps a dove in flight or a plane leaving. Otherwise I would I not change a thing. Terrie

    Thank you.

The mistake I made effecting her life, should have been her decision alone.

This is timely as so many parents are seeing their college grads leave the nest and the parents' support and begin the job search. One small error in your poem: your often seen (YOU'RE often seen)
