Hi Michael. I'm no authority on haiku (or any other kind of poetry), though I love to read it. I'm really commenting here to let you know I'm still in the world of the living. Long time between drinks. Sorry about that.

In any case, I love this simple tribute to your mum, and to mothers everywhere. In just a few words you capture something priceless and beautiful, and that in itself is admirable. I wish I had your knack! The connection between 'petal', 'bouquet' and the 'scrapbook of memories' is clever. I suppose one mark of good poetry has to be the impact it has on a reader, and this really struck me vividly. Thank you.

Anthony

Welcome back! I don't really drink anymore, I fear what I might post or say in a review if a few shots kick in!!! Loved your insights. All I could hope for. Thank you, mikey

Your chosen picture adds so much to your few words that paint a beautiful bouquet of the loving memories you cherish of your Mother.

Could be very interesting to see what may be contained in Mothers scrapbooks. In 17 short syllables you have captured that thought eloquently. Poem well written.

Hi Mikey! Love the idea of petals from various bouquets being pressed into a scrapbook of memories. I never did that growing up and wish I had. Come to think of it, I didn't get that many bouquets growing up LOL! You've got a bit of competition with a similar 'ku in the contest. I wish you all the best of luck. Sue

I have pressed many flowers. Flowers given by a lover, flowers given when my children were born, even flowers from a funeral. Each brought back treasured memories. Giving flowers is a dying tradition. I miss it. I love the picture. Great work.

I used to have a scrapbook that contained pressed flowers and other precious memories but lost it in a move. Still wonder what happened to it. This is very well done.
Take care.
Christelle.

I read through this Haiku Bouquet.

I liked the alliteration of petal pressed.
The play between flowers and memories presented as an arrangement of something that is considered pretty was pleasant.

The satori line fed back in for me, both physically and on a secondary level... Not just the literal image of a mom making a scrapbook using flowers... but the preciousness of a memory, pressed in time, a compilation of love that a mom crafts in a child's heart.

This is lovely and so is the picture. I wondered if it is a picture of your mum. I love the picture that I keep and treasure of my parents, grandparents, and even the greats...
