They do say that immitation is the sincerest form of flattery. So I am honoured that you have chosen to have a go at a symmetrina. And what a symmetrina it is too. A graphic account of the towing and frowing of the weather during an impressive, and by the sound of it potentially disastrous storm. Somehow the contraction and expansion of the lines seems to suit the surging of the storm so it is a nice match of form and content.

No doubt about my favourite line: "And pound the ground with sound that snare-drum drummers play."

Well written.

This is an excellent poem that captures the near tragedy well. I was relieved when I read these lines that our God came to the rescue.
" God must have heard my urgent need.
Then storm subsided to that state ideal
For going home to thank the Lord for coming through."
Well done, Tom.

Thank you rod. I may have exaggerated it a bit. It was just a severe thunderstorm.

I couldn't write that kind of poem if i had to. You really did a good job and deserve a six in my book. I do believe i would have been shaking in my boots with the storm. I've been close to a tornado in kansas and close in oklahoma. being a california girl i drank up all of my sister's homemade brandy to get through it. never, ever have i seen or heard a storm like that one! glad u were o.k. all my relatives are in missouri but oklahoma takes the cake for the biggest, blackest, loudest, house shaking storms anywhere. i'm too old for all that...and earthquakes too. take care sweet man fluff

Your wonderful review and recollections made me smile. Yeah, they get some very nasty ones in those states. I appreciate you review. The stars made my day!

That sounds like quite a storm. Although it can be fun to watch, no one likes to be caught in it. I found your poem to be very well written.

Shows how unpredictable life can be. One moment your mind is on having fun, then the weather abruptly changes. I could sense the fear toward the last verses. Very detailed writing. Could really picture it. Like the rhyming, not your ordinary scheme. Well crafted. Les

Thank you Les. I was more worried about my Grandson. He's afraid of storms as it is.

Always the way things turn out when you plan something fun outside. STORMS! Never fails and this poem captures that sentiment very nicely. Write on.

Impressive accomplishment, image and style.
Storms are perfect fodder for a poetic mind especially if caught out and live to tell the tale.
I enjoyed the tale and the mechanics of the style.
The image suits the story well.
Glad to hear all ended well.

I too read Pantygynt's Symmetrina and thought that I might try it sometime. It has a most pleasing feel to it. The fall and rise within each verse and the sandwich rhyme scheme work perfectly in your example.

Thank you for sharing another unusual form--I recently started reading panygant's work and can see his signature. I enjoyed your descriptive story in symmetrical stanzas and rhymes, plus your alliterative "c, s, b, and g's". I was relieved your prayers were answered. Hugs- Joan

Oh man. Oh man. WOWWWW.

Once again you have perfect meter in a really very hard format it appears! Truly beautiful.

Such a compelling story within this piece! Where were you when this happened, state.

Beneath a swaying lamppost, tall and thin. THAT is my favorite line. Just hits the ear right.

All in all you have Perfect flow, fantastic word choices for imagery. And a Great story! I'm glad you both made it through the storm. (Metaphor?)

God bless and great piece! I'm so glad I got to catch you!
