Ah yes, Lake Gitcheegumi, or however the Native Americans spelled it, and the Edmund Fitzgerald. Superior must be a challenge for ships. And without the captains log to tell us what happened we can only guess.

My old eyes struggled with the contrast, I hope I read this correctly, Without the Captain log, the last days of a vessel is lost to history. This is well written.

Your presentation is good although I must admit i miss the poin in places. You did a fine job with the your description of the sea and what it can do to a sailor and the imagery is suggestive of a lonely place and the great power of the sea. good luck and god bless1 Jimmy

Still can't read it that well here. And, can't find it on classic fanstory. Anyway, It's well penned, with nice photo and color scheme. Has a lot of meaning. Nice progression, rhythm and flow. :-)Deb

There you are! Been busy and wearing myself out. But, had a great visit from an old friend of mine. We worked together in the 1980's. She still lives in Michigan and I'm not. We are the kind of friends who go without speaking or seeing each other for several years, then just pick up like we saw each other yesterday. Went to Cedar Key, touristy place of west coast of Florida, northern part. My friend took good care of me. She rented a golf cart to buzz around this little town, an artists haven. Wrote the poem I posted today. It is taking me days to recuperate. THEN, my computer took a dump and took me about 4 days to get it going good again. Ohhh, life in the big city! The music you have here would go well with my poem about the pier. You mentioned the Edmund Fitzgerald and made me a little homesick for Michigan. I've heard ship captains tell that they would rather pilot through the ocean than Lake Superior. She is a rough one and takes plenty of prisoners. Brilliantly written, as usual and as I would expect. I'm back! Linda

Mike, The video is gorgeous, pleasant and provides a peaceful feeling for the end of the evening.

Your poetic piece regarding the Edmond Fitzgerald's Great Lake's last mistake is fitting for the photo you chose to enhance your artistic words. The entire presentation is Very nice. Carole

So I'm slumming around. Looking for that nugget of the evening. So many disappointments. Then I find this.

Although I am not a hearty believer in posting art with your work, in this case it is hauntingly clear the exceptional marriage found here.

This writing is brilliant and restores my faith that the fanstory poet for the evening is truly out there. You just have to kiss a lot of frogs.

This is thought provoking and ethereal and I enjoyed this journey very much. Thank you.

Alas I am out of sixes. Though I dare say you are not lacking in them.

Well done. Lynda

You know, my friend. Yes, a reposition or two or even conjunctions could seem wanting here, but honestly, I wouldn't have you work any other way. The poetic device employed here is the cryptic method you exude which makes it your own, and allows the reader to dig deep in swimming with your tide. It is simply breathtaking and none can rize it from you. You carrry on the good work my friend, hope to hear more from you.

From the imagery of this write to the haunting image above, you take us to the fathoms below and speak the language of those who rest there.
Bravo. Don't every change unless it fits into your line and vision...that is what makes us unique.
Six without doubt.
Best wishes,
RGstar

Sorry, some small mistakes there, Michael, late in the morning. Here it is again, with mistakes omitted. Well deserved.

The poetic device employed here is the cryptic method you exude which makes it your own, and allows the reader to dig deep in swimming with your tide. It is simply breathtaking and none can criticize as that is how 'making something your own' should be represented. You carry on the good work my friend, hope to hear more from you.

Okay Michael,

You know when I was in high school, one of my favorite subjects was Greek/Roman Mythology. So anyone who knows a little about Mythology knows your title is a Metaphor for a release of a great North wind. Aeolus, though considered a lesser God and son of Poseidon, was God of the Winds and he had four sons.

First of all, it is important to note the Ancient Greeks were great seafarers and it was their experiences when on the open seas which lent to their great myths.
Some of the myths in a nutshell so to speak was the images of the god's stabled stallions being released into the wind. Imagery, a potent charge of power. Anyone who has watched these magnificent creature run with fury can well see it in the mind's eye. One of Aeolus son's was Boreas, the North wind. In one myth he was said to have sunk 400 Persian ships with his power.

As I too, a lover of music, your reference to an ill-fated ship was clear and potent.

Your brilliant arrangement of word brings the reader a rich experience, though ghostly and tragic, as many early centuries ship met their fate.

One of the paradoxes of human existence is that all experience- as I have stated before- beautiful or ugly- tragic or joyful, actual or imaginary, strange or common, when presented in the medium of art is enjoyable. In real life getting soaked in a rainstorm can be irritating, but in poetry it has its province and brings a rich experience to one's imagination.

So I could go on and on, but once again in your own style, and a style which only belongs to you and cannot be mimicked, you present a seasoned reader with a new perspective on what great poetry can be.

I no longer have the privilege of watching you compose and the process in which you arrive at your art, but it is quite fascinating
.
So to you my friend, I raise a glass and toast your talent.

Hope you are doing well.

Deepest respect and friendship, I send my love across the miles..
Jimi

Thank you Jimi.....this is really an ah open mic moment of justice's yearning for dawns awakening. anyhow -clink-..let's drink to that...-wink- ...thank you Beautiful. love michael

the captain's log, his work a poetry of ghosts at the mercy of Aeolus' wind. the ocean is catching up, despair making sailors who work the winds become swallowers of sea though here they swallow the who sea lonesome for shore. karma catches us all off day vacationed - I am not sure if you mean off as off guard, going down with the Edmund Fitzgerald or if you mean the lucky were off on a day vacation and spared the sinking. unique, haunting poem.
