For me, this is my kind poem, I give it a six.
What else is there left for me to say.
If I stop here you will say the review was not long enough. So I will just have to say it was great. It was even better
than great. I kind of liked it

LOL, Marilyn, that was great. We have an off shoot of Walmart, ASDA. But it's not like your shop. Just a supermarket. We do get lots of photos of people shopping in Walmarts, and I have to laugh at some of them, your people watching said it all. Great poem, great rhyme and great rhythm. :) Sandra.

My closest WalMart is about twenty miles away so I don't go often, but there a few things that I find there that are well priced, like picture frames. I enjoyed your clever rhymes plus both serious and lighthearted social commentary. Your pet name Wally is choice. Cheers- Joan

Hi Joan. Thank you for reviewing and commenting. If you are looking for picture frames, Goodwill or Salvation Army is a great source for that (especially if you are an artist). Marilyn

I never thought of those sources--thanks for the tip--I paint as well as collect. -J

Good job. I like how you told it like it is. Articulate and amusing. And you kept it going all the way thru. Enjoyed it and tho I'm not a qualified poetry critic, I thought it was well done and not forced.

BeasPeas, Both of my daughters, one in New York and one in Michigan agree with you 100%. They love WalMart's. I'm not that crazy about it, but I do shop there too. Wal-Mart should pay you for this advertisement! Smiles, Carole

Hi Carole. Thank you for your review. I'm in agreement with your daughters. It goes beyond my liking to shop under one roof. It goes to the right of employees to work where and for who they want and for the right of an employer to hire them. Plus--it is entertaining.

This is a bullseye, Marilyn. You have a comprehensive understanding of the Walmart life, and why we live it. Commerce prior to Mr. Sam is just a costly and foggy recollection. Maybe I will see you there. Good work.

Hi Marilyn -- I think you'd better send this poem to Walmart. They might even pay you for it! :) Your poem is well written, extolling the virtues of the store. The little town I grew up in Arizona would be nothing without their Walmart store. Anyway . . . I especially enjoyed your description of the shoppers. These lines made me laugh:

"Many are nearly bare, it's true
Bouncy bottoms, jelly-belly fat
Hard to tell where their waist is at"

Your couplets are perfectly rhymed, and your words have a great flow and rhythm.

Thanks for the laugh! Alana

Thank you, Alana, for your nice review. Good suggestion--sending it to Walmart. I do think that chain "makes" the town and is a boon to those on fixed income. Marilyn

Thank you, Dawny, for your review. It's shopping and entertainment rolled into one. Although in many ways it is sad to see how people let themselves go physically. Marilyn/BeasPeas

Marilyn, this is really very good. Good sense written in an amusing way with very good rhyme. You say the lot in this poem. The way some dress, showing everything they've got - and I don't mean in their shopping trolley. It's the same over here. So many obese people. It's the affluent society spending money on the wrong food (mind you I do like Belgian chocolate) so I wont say too much. I visited a Walmart a few years back - toured California. It's a great shopping experience. We have Asda here and it is owned by Walmart.
The staff are great - I certainly couldn't fancy the job and having to look like I enjoyed it. I loved the read. Warm regards Dorothy x

Hi Dorothy. Walmart sure is a boon to many people who know they can shop there fore the best prices. It's what we used to call in the 60's "a happening." Thank you for your kind review and comments. Who doesn't love Belgian chocolate--ummmmm! Marilyn

Ha ha...you nailed this! Who among us doesn't feel exactly the same way? Love it or hate it, we all head to the local Walmart to pick up those items that cost twice as much everywhere else. Not sure what this says about us as a society, and as you point out, we're probably gonna pay a high price down the road (to our soon-to-be overlord, China), but dang, it's convenient!

Hi Jennpenn. People complain about the disloyalty of customers because they buy goods from China, but you can't buy anything in America anymore that isn't from Mexico, Bangladesh, China, etc. Our deficit/debt is killing us and our grandkids will be paying the price for our government overspending. China owns us anyway. So what's the difference. I like one-stop shopping, too. Thank you for your review. Marilyn
