This poem is so finely crafted! Perfect rhythm and perfect rhyme. The visuals were vivid, and I knelt with you to say a prayer at the end. Thanks! Caroline

Aw poor wee bird...poor wee red breasted robin now blood pooling around him
Sad and sweet that you would do such a grand thing for such a little bird
Well done
God bless...good requiescat

You have narrated a poignant tale that any nature lover can relate to. There is something more tragic about a bird's death than a human's, perhaps because it died alone.
Your AABB quatrains are flawless in rhyme and meter.
Myf favorite verse: sought that redbreast to draw nigh. Don't we all crave that bond with nature that often is not forthcoming?

I dark yet emotional poem. A clear representation of the fact that sometimes things can seem perfectly fine but then suddenly take a turn for the worse. An excellent piece of poetry. Well done!

Its so sad to see any animal, or bird that's dead. I always wondered about their lives and what really took them down. Life is that way, you live and then you die. That is the cycle of living. Nice rhyming. Thanks for sharing. Les

Wonderful words written here.
A robin or any other birds
have blood to shed we are all
in the same boat, we all die one day.

Peter@Poole... look at you... welcome back!
Such a sad poem about the sudden loss of something that gave you joy. The song was joyful that he sang and without warning, you find him dead in the snow the next visit to where he first met your gaze.
This is quite like life... unexplainable sometimes. Reminds me of the many deaths in our family the past few weeks. Sudden, unexplainable losses that one cannot understand but must still accept as part of life... and so we pray for those lost, as you did the wee bird. The meaning of this poem could vary. Could be reflective on all life, no matter how small... still so significant and worthy of thanks to God.
Good rhyming throughout and a thought-provoking message. Thanks for sharing!
Looking forward to hearing the latest in Peter's life and reading more of his poems. Happy New Year! Bonne Heureuse Annee!

I am so glad you have returned. I hope you are okay. Excellent poetic form. You have a smooth flow of lines and rhyming of words. I learned a new word-requiescat-a wish or prayer for the dead. Robins are beautiful birds that deserve a prayer, I have many in the trees around my house.
