Being a Jersey guy myself, I had to read this post even if I'm not a fan of horror. Congrats on winning the contest and going out with that bang.

I did enjoy the story although I did get a little lost here and there.

I know you're an ex-Jersey native, have you ever seen the books "Weird Jersey"? Pretty incredible stuff. Let me know. I could always may you some... John

Oh yeah, I love Weird Jersey, John. I subscribed to it when we lived there -- in East Brunswick -- back in 2009 for a couple of years.

And hey, if you're serious about sending me some, let me know, I'd really love to read them. They inspired several fun stories I'd written before I came to FanStory in 2013.

Much obliged for the very generous rating and thoughtful review, John.

Hello there~!
Wow... This story was absolutely amazing.. I loved the narration style. It made me smile at times for the description, though trying to be scary was quite witty too. Poor Mickey.. but I should confess that I never really liked him from the very beginning for he gave off that vibe of a bully..
Anyway, Congrats on winning the contest!

JazakAllah Khair~!
(God Bless~!)

A good write and congrats for being the winner. I enjoyed the story and look forward to your others next year. I'm still toddling along, but don't seem to be going anywhere with my writing.LOL. As I said it's a well written story and the imagery is great. Keep at it. Mary.

This story should not be read at night. I found that out to late last night. This is an amazing as your poetry and high five on your win.

I got the chills and now Mr. Razor and the whereabouts of tough kid, now man or snake?, Mickey is stuck in my head. You must write a squeal even if you do it as a poem.

The images are gritty in detail and breathtaking in creating a dark tone through tout the story.

Have a Happy New Year.

Wow, Dean! Congratulations on your fine win, this one is a real shocker! You must write a sequel to tell us what plans Lenny had for Mr Razor, and if he succeeds! You have a really horrific mind, Dean! LOL, Do you sleep with the light on? Alfred Hitchcock did! This is another well written brilliant story, and I am glad I have a few hours before I go to bed! Happy New Year! xsx Sandra

Thanks a bunch, Sandra, and nope, no lights on for yours truly. I can't stand trying to sleep with lights on. However, I do always have something on television. Just last night, I fell asleep watching William Peter Blatty's "The Exorcist". That movie is so much better when veiwed in the dark, heh...heh.

Great story Dean
You remained me of the freak shows we once had at our Country fair when I was a young girl
Now the part that put chills up and down my spine -

Dean you've done it again. Put chills up and down my spin especially this-

"Mr. Razor", was beheaded then burned back in the late 1600's, when Juniper Springs was known as Jasper Creek. Now, I know what yer thinkin' This town's had more names than your average one-year-old has their diapers changed. There's probably a couple of good reasons for that, too. Turns out Mr. Razor was reputed to be a powerful warlock, and he and his band of mutant misfits had appeared in other places across the country.

Thanks very much for taking the time to read this one, Gert, and for the wonderfully generous six star rating as well. In fact, thanks for always being an ardent supporter of my work here, and a good friend to boot.

Here's hoping that 2015 is bigger, badder and better than ever. Oh, and I mean "badder" in a purely 1970-ish sense, heh-heh...

Thanks again for everything, Gert! ;)

Hi Dean

A ghostly tale indeed. You've treated us for the last time this year and provided the blast. Your story held interest all the way through. You held vernacular and made the scene with the boys real. All gets a bit weird and scary after that. Excellent images displayed throughout just in case the reader tries to breath. Gets even more hair-raising with recognition showing in the Snake Boy's eyes... and those gold fangs.

A great read Dean and of the winner! Congratulations. Wishing you and your loved ones a joyous and bloodcurdling New Year and a safe and healthy 2015. Hugs - Lovi xoxo

Dean,

That was a VERY cool story. Mr. Razors...man oh man, would I want to avoid that guy!

I think it was well told, it all flowed very well. I liked the dialect, and I thought it was all told with very good imagery.

Thanks for this piece!

Dean, Dean, Dean. You have too much talent for one guy. Email me some when you have a chance. As usual I enjoyed your work immensely. I've always found carnivals (and clowns) particularly frightening ever since I saw "It". Excellent writing.

Stephen King's novel, "IT!", changed many young boys' and girls' perceptions of clowns, Ben, my own daughter included. I don't help matters much there, I'm afraid, LOL.

Thank you for taking time out to read and review this. I do appreciate your opinions. :)

    Have a Happy 2015, and beyond! ~Dean
