I like the flow, structure, imagery, and the message. I feel the respect and appreciation for the works of Shakespeare. I also can relate to the retirement scene and having the time to pursue things you love . I like the rhyme scheme and your explanations for writing a wrapped refrain. Thanks

This is a very good work on Shakespeare, very ingenious your point of view. I am still trying to understand him so my hat goes to you. Good reading.

Thanks for sharing the wrapped Refrain and your love for Shakespeare. We have been going to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival for 43 years. Keep enjoying the Bard's book and sharing your rhymed and metered poems. Cheers- Joan

Oh, I love to find classics at "reasonable" prices too! My latest acquisition was a Complete Sherlock Holmes some years ago.
The Complete Shakespeare (in ten elegant volumes) was an eighteenth birthday gift from my parents.
Lovely pic. (I have a penchant for African Violets too!)
In case we don't touch base before, Merry Christmas, Tom. I sincerely hope Karen feels better soon.

Hi, Treischel,
Enjoyed the read. The photo is perfect for this piece, and more personable since it is from your home as well.
Nicely penned and presented.

A seamless composition where the form is tucked so subtly into the poem as to be almost unnoticeable. Your rhymes fall so naturally that one is almost unaware of them. This is not an easy form to write well but you have used it marvellously.
It s sad to think how many are turned off poetry at school and how few eventually come back to it. It takes an inspired teacher to make it live.

I have only dabbled into his works and found them very interesting to say the least. Also, I am very fond of archaic language and find it to be very poetic. He really had the language form down to perfection. This was a well written verse that I enjoyed reading and writing this response for... John

I only realised at the end that there was a well structured poetic device in play. A wrapped refrain, hey! It worked, I think, as I enjoyed the way it rolled out as I read. I was entranced with your valuing the bard in later life after a less than satisfactory high school experience. Not surprising, been there, done that. I think we couldn't give a hoot about language's subtleties or the gracious ways wisdom and life experiences are played out in narrative. But, age and experience help us appreciate the genius of it all. Maybe, Shakespeare is wasted on the young. A really interesting topic well related in your unique format.

Thank you mfowler. Indeed he can be quite heavy reading when young.
