A strong message to those who smoke, whatever their age -
my father was a heavy smoker and finally gave up at 70, but
although he didn't pass on until he was 82, it was a slow terrible death - so painful to see. He had lung and bladder cancer and was less than 6 stone when he died - he couldn't even swallow custard - had to be fed by tubes - something I will never forget --- but still two of my three sons smoke, which worries me terribly, but as grown men, they must want to stop themselves.

Hi Margaret nice to meet you. This has been up for a while appreciate your review. A dear old friend of mine in USA a preacher smoked for 40 years and 40 years after he quit he was diagnosed for bladder cancer. They are still checking him but he was given the all clear a while ago. Thanks for the review nice to meet you. Don't know where you are if you are interested in Aussie travels my wife has her own account now look for Tootsie55. I ghost write for her she does all the stories and I post and proof read them.

I'm so sorry to hear that - poor chap. We are in Wiltshire (South/East of England) - in a country village 5 mls out of the beautiful city, so have the best of both worlds. We've travelled Australia twice, New Zealand and Canada, plus 34 States of America, but now well and truly retired, we are happy to take just short trips to one of our sons' who lives in Athens - Spain and Portugal to friends. Mind, we did have to go all the way to Texas to our eldest grand-daughter's wedding last April - boy, was it hot!! Nice to chat. Margaret

Not sure if I mentioned we were gonna go toAmerica in 2000 but ended up just driving across Australia instead. That story is coming on my wife's travel stories soon.

Thanks for writing this, I will show this to someone I know who I believe still smokes...Cigarettes, I know can do so much damage....Such a bad habit, that, too is hard to kick, but worth it...My husband has asthma from smoking previously..And, my brother-in-law has bladder cancer & COPD from smoking heavily, over the years...Neither my husband or brother-in-law are still smoking...But, they are stuck living now with the consequences.

Thanks for writing this, I will show this to someone I know who I believe still smokes...Cigarettes, I know can do so much damage....Such a bad habit, that, too is hard to kick, but worth it...My husband has asthma from smoking previously..And, my brother-in-law has bladder cancer & COPD from smoking heavily, over the years...Neither my husband or brother-in-law are still smoking...But, they are stuck living now with the consequences.

I am so sorry. never knew about bladder cancer toll; my old preacher friend got it even after he quit 40 years before. Glad you write I have promoted Chapter 21 from my Autobiography "The Little Dog That Wouldn't let go"with some added stuff including a very brief video of some of our wedding and some extra info I got from the lady who sang at our wedding and I am friends with on Facxe book. Thanks for the review sorry the rewards are gone now.

AMEN Sis good hearing from you. I have promoted Chapter 21 of my book again I need to add some info I got just todayu for it if you hang on till tomorrow I now have attached a Youtube of TEN minutes of our wedding. President Obama is an exception and he has shown to the world that if one is serious, to quit smoking should be no problem.

Hi friend I wonder how long ago BO quit? Be interesting to see if he gets Bladder Cancer eventually himself. probably long after he has been chucked out of the Whie house ha! Dod npot know he was a former smoker thanks for the heads up and review.

I wonder if this post might have been improved with a little more 'padding' - perhaps some research into bladder cancer and citations of the connection between cancer and smoking? Or perhaps the terrible way your friend has been suffering? A little 'shock factor...'.

Hey mate thanks for the catches, no one else caught em not even me ha! Funny you are an RN. Another friend of mine's wife is a SMOKING RN (Mental Nurse so I guess that figures ha! WIll work on the corrections. Hope you will have a look at my Intro to my Book of Poultry I think you read some of the poems in there as stand alones a long time ago. The Vain Peewee remember that one? that is the Intro to the book which still has rewards on it till tomorrow.

Thanks for your great review.Yeah well my brother died of chest cavity cancer almost same as lung cancer I guess he was blaming the Government as a long distance truck driver. I was not aware of Bladder cancer until Bro Marty Few told us about his problem forty years after he quit smoking when he came to Christ. Mind you I do know Christians who still smoke, Oh me.

Oh so true. My father smoked from the he was in the Korean War until my fourth son was born in 1985. Andrew was very allergic to cigarette smoke and would have an asthma attack whenever he smelled the smoke. He still does today at 29 years old. Dad quit for Andrew, but Dad at 83 years old, still suffers effects of it.

Thanks very much for coming by. This has been a very popular story. The preacher I wrote this for is currently having further Bladder treatment I think I said that. I wonder if I should get test for passive smoking I was working in amongst smokers years ago before smoking was banned in workplaces. My father smokes too for most of his life. My sister reckons he did not do it around us?? Not sure about that.

Sankey, I have two daughters who smoke. I'm seventy-two and I've been told that my fifty-three-year old daughter looks older than me. I never smoked, but I've had two husbands, (at different times, Ha) and two daughters, and I'm the one with lung problems from second-hand smoke!!
I wrote a story about smoking too, "Smoke Smoke that Cigarette."
This is written very well with a terrific message to send out to folks who still smoke. Carole

Thanks Carole for a heart warming review from a sad experience. I do wonder if I should have been checked for second hand smoke. I worked in an office for 7 months full of smokers.Back in a day when smoking was not forbidden in the work place. Will look for your story.

Yeah how true that is. Their tie is coming though for sure. Friends wife is a compulsive smnoker won't even adsociate with Non Smokers. SHe said exactly what you wrote after her hubby warned her ho hum. Thanks again.
