Oh!! The ante has been upped now. A battle looms I suspect. This is building naturally and with realism. The dialogue and feel of this piece continues to be incredibly authentic. Excellent!

So we see that the "demon" in the boy is epilepsy or some other physical ailment, but why does he see and hear people giving him commands? Is he schizophrenic?

Yes! He's schizophrenic with epilepsy. They often go together. I'm trying to describe his condition as they would see it and somehow get it across what he might be suffering from. I feel like I'm boxing with a hand tied behind my back or playing charades since I can't use any terminology. How are you by the way. Still have unlimited Chinese food? I'm hopelessly buried, but I am reading all of my reviews. I thought I'd better answer on so you know I'm reading them and appreciating them. He bows and waves his overly festive hat. mikey

Yes, Amanda's dad still cooks two meals a day and really delicious meals at that. They are leaving Monday morning and I'll miss the food, but life will be a lot easier for both Amanda and me. I'm here now trying to catch up on reviewing but with over fifty messages in my mailbox I don't think I'll succeed. Amd I really need to write a new chapter SOON.

I think I've been remarkably patient. :) For the chapter... I'm not one to complain about being behind, I have 150 messages and that's because they rotate every three days. Say hi to Amanda and tell her to write something! mikey

The young boy has seizures. This will make the folks fear him. It would be like a devil has possessed him. A lot of people fear seizures to this day. Another priest will be on the 'Good Doctor". Danger is increasing. The group has to move fast and still tend to the special people. Great work.

Leopold seem to be more determined in his resolve, and that makes him very dangerous man. Sounds like the young boy suffers from epilepsy. Another great chapter.

I had seizures when I was a child. I am sure if I lived during this time I would have been burned at the stake. Great dialogue throughout this one. You really do a terrific job with dialogue. I look forward to the next chapter.

This work has reached the exceptional level

All very good descriptions of characters, mood, and events. At least they knew what to do for seizures and didn't cram something into his mouth and try to restrain him.

Got a chuckle out of sending guards to protect from demons. Silly people.

I was reading (in a sociology class)that in Martin Luther's day, even he believed some of this was "changings".

He didn't practice the torture methods but pulled the father aside and advised him to allow several church men to mercifully kill his child without the mother knowing and making it appear to be an accident.

From the description, the boy, about aged 7 had autism. The father refused and Rev. Luther didn't push him but continued to counsel. Amazingly, the boy seemed to run off, fall over a cliff and drown. Hmmm.

Studies show that throughout ages, if anything promises to prevent the family to survive and reproduce, society finds reason for it to be evil and worthy of elimination. When it took every family member working together to survive, the weak link was identified quickly.

This also led to killing old single women and widows as witches because they were a burden. They found another excuse to kill them.

You could understand survival instinct getting caught up in ignorance then, but there's not reason for it now.

I can remember as a child, many people in the church my family attended believing epilepsy was demon possession.

My first boyfriend had a mild form of it and it led to my first fight with the church. Hasn't been so very long ago that some ignorance prevailed.

Your story is so good, the plot is thickening, the priests are intent on slaughtering those supposedly possessed souls. Let us hope that good will prevail over evil. Most enjoyable as always. Faye

Humm... this story reminds me of a big puzzle? The pieces of the puzzle are being assembled one at a time. The dots are being connected. I often go back to your author notes to refresh my memory on the cast & crew. That is an excellent idea to have them author notes. The grammar looks ship-shape. Nice plot, refugees fleeing a village in fear of the priests, one particular religious wacko. At least, they have one priest who sides Valarius, an ant-Leoupold. Medicine was at it's medievil core back then. They typically confused mental sickness with being demon-possessed. Thurston seems to be wiser regarding this topic. The poor lad could have epilepsy or autestic, or mental sickness. Seems to be a lot of paranoid priests running around. I wonder how Father Cervantes priest thinks about Leopold. He may be ruined by Leopold. I'm a stranger to the catholic faith, but I'm starting to remember details of attending a catholic school. Abbey, priests, nuns. Has Valerius or Julia been to a confession booth lately? it's suppose to be private, just between you, God and the priest, but I sometimes wonder. I betcha, you could get some interesting conversations from the confession booth. Maybe Leopold could -- try to get some info on the ones he thinks is demon possessed through Flouritina or someone else who is vulnerable. Just a theory? I have lots of theories, I had a strong catholic upbringing and can relate. They have alter boys during service too. Maybe there is room for a couple alter boys who attend the Roman catholic church. They swing incense on a chain during services and chant words repetiously. They pray using rosary beads. The Holy Rosary. But you know already of these things, you said. Looks like trouble is coming. The refugees taken refuge in Valerius household. I see trouble brewing. Maybe an exorcism is coming? I would run too. The dots are connecting for me -- the more I read this, and re-read the author notes, the easier it is for me to understand these Romans who speak strangely. Your picking up a character as you go down hermit road. I bet this is becoming a wee bit easier, not as complicated as you get a visual image in your mind. Great effort. Time to go to confession and eat a wafer dipped in wine. Hail Mary! Count your doubloon, Lion King. It is looking good. do loco

You have a light, easy-going style.

1. I am not sure that "fervor" is the word you want. Dictionary.com says: "great warmth and earnestness of feeling".

2. "Are her fears..." I think this sentence is overly long, 45 words.

Keep up the great work.

No errors I could spot, the events unravel as a good story should. As well as this goes, I look forward to new chapters every time. Until the next one comes out, I wish you the best in delivering the same quality.
