This is very emotional. It shows that children feel things deeply but shouldn't need to be brought to tears. It also shows children may be more compassionate than some adults.
Apt artwork.
Congrats on the win.

Thanks, Gerald. Yes, I am not one to believe that poetry has to be difficult to access...

This is a very touching poem,
so beautifully written - the
words, and both rhythm and rhyme
flowing perfectly - most impressive.
Congratulations on your win, Steve.

Thanks, Margaret, my friend.
I am delighted to have picked up the cheque for this against some tough opposition.

This is powerful in the eyes of a child, the eyes that cry that shouldn't. Nothing hurts worse then a child dealing with adult issues. So sad.

You ever hear Nick Cave's tune, " The Weeping Song"? It's on you tube, give it a listen. Powerful minute poem in that you don't usually think of a child weeping for their parent. No doubt in these hard times, they see our pain and know that it will someday become theirs.

This is so tender and touching... a truly sweet minute poem and perfectly done. I was reminded of when I sat beside my father's bed and held his hand as he was sleeping. Knowing I wouldn't have him with me much longer was causing tears to run silently down my cheeks. He opened his eyes and said, "Donnie, don't weep for me. Dying is just a part of living." Your beautiful poem of course made me think of that moment. Thank you for your lovely words. I can see no way to make this better. I loved it.

Adonna, thank you so much for the wonderful review and for letting me know how it touched you personally - it is those connections that all poets strive for, I think.

Children cry at the drop of a hat, and are often frightened by very serious situations so dont shed tears at that point. Your photo is stunningly beautiful, and just adds to the poignancy of your sweet words. Well written.

Smoothly and coolly written, it inspires tears of understanding. Innocence has flown the nest. From now on we must progress only through suffering and we must triumph! We begin by learning that it is a very human world. The angels do not weep except in a Giotto painting. And we must share these moments with these children. Thereby lies our destiny. -Ekim777
