I must have missed this contest! Anyway, I've filed the idea away for the future! Very much along the same lines as the good news / bad news jokes that I used to enjoy so much as a child, and still do, truth be known. Yours is a fine example of the genre and a worthy winner of the contest - though I confess that I did not see what it was up against!

Hi Treischel, not the least bit surprised that this was a competition winner, it has a beautiful rhythm, lovely rhyme and good meter all leading to a flow as smooth as the water you are fishing on, great poem my friend!

Aaawww... I love this picture of you sitting down there all by yourself waitin' for fish! And I loved your poem. And I love Mick Jaggar! This is a great contest entry, your work adhering to one good feeling and then switching over to another. I worried a little bit about stanza 2, the use of the word I perhaps a bit much.. cant take away from my 5 stars though.

I love the picture. I love the poem. Fishing is a relaxing sport, that is until thunderstorms interrupt. It is also bad when the fish bite on anything but your hook. Fishing is an up and down sport. You try to plan. But the weather and the fish can change these plans. Great work. Good luck with the contest.
